the sp copy on giantcod i would personaly not get, far less spec than ones listed above, although far cheaper only a 13.5 limit so gonna maxed out on a stock motor really, i not trying to sell it to u but if wanted to save some money i have a gm120 im not using anymore was brought new at begining of 2010 but is a 2009 model, prob the esc from the list with the motor adjustable settings.

instructions say,
batteries 4-6 cells NiMH or 2S Lipo motors ≥8.5T(1/10 on-road), ≥11.5T(1/10 off-road) these are a lot more difficult to set up from what you read on the forums

they all have their plus points, some have negative points. I haven't tried anything other than a Tekin and with the latest software, they are really good, plus efficient and reduced heat.

Tekin is by far the greatest speedo, they've been in the game since day one. No fans to keep them cool just damn good engineering.
I ran them before they did brushless and never missed a beat. Went to Novak for brushless, had 2 go up in smoke. I'm sticking to Tekin they are small especially handy when running a Durango with 40mhz gear. ![]() |

Just swapped both my cars to Tekin and wouldnt buy anything else again.. (Had Novak, Nosram & LRP previously)
If you can afford the RS or RS pro just get one, they are well worth the money and from my experience so far are faultless ![]() |

I'm going to assume we're talking about a Touring Car here since it's a 13.5 motor...
The first question you have to ask is, "do I want to carry a laptop to every meeting". If the answer is "no", the only sensible choice is the Speed Passion. This is as fast as anything else out there and has a nice programming box available for about £20 that means you don't need a laptop at the circuit. I ran this at the BRCA GP and had as much speed and punch as the guy who won the meeting. The Irish national champ also uses one (he switched from GM as he got fed up of carrying a laptop around). The Tekin and GM are both excellent ESCs; the Tekin is very popular and the GM won both BRCA TC classes last year. But you do need a laptop to adjust the timing settings. The LRP SXX won't keep up with any of these I'm afraid. |

i am also lookiing to get a tekin once raised the funds, but the note above the gm has 8 profiles that can all be custom set and can be swaped between using the transmitter at the track

I had several Speed Passion speedos that were perfectly ok.
Now I have a LRP SPX Zero (for the upcoming LRP Off-Road Challenge) and a Tekin RS. I recommend the Tekin to anybody willing to pay the few extra quid. Small and smooth and except for the timing settings (Hotwire interface is brillant!) you don't even need a setup box, the LEDs do the trick! ![]()

Why does the novak kinetic not seem popular

It's their first go at an advance timing ESC; the others are 2nd or 3rd gen so they've got most of the bugs out of the way by now. Reading the Novak forum on RC Tech it looks like the Kinetic still has a few teething issues. It's also the most expensive as there is no 'budget' version, so you're out of pocket £220 with the USB adapter.
Nothing wrong with the performance though; Chris Slater was running one at the Moto Arena GP and won the 10.5 class beating all of the Tekins and GMs. |
