Default painting the whole MR

besides getting a new shell is there a way to paint it on the outside and the paint will stick?
I plan on adding a few stickers as well to the areas that might rub if the bugy truns over
What about the underbody? What paint will stay on and not chip/peel off too easily?

Why would you want to paint the outside?

Wylie - The Madrat body comes pre-painted.

Onekiwi: Could you not buy a clear x-pro body:

exactly the same as the madrat. If you paint on the outside, paint will come off easily in the event of a collision, no matter how well protected it is.

Yeah I think that will be the case however I paint it and try and protect it.

I want to paint 1 as I have 2 rats and I can live with the colours but its not really the paint job I would like.

Im looking at getting a clear shell and doing my own paint job on it. Conceptracing has a better deal on this site right or was that only for the MR shell not the X-Pro

As of late ive gone a bit crazy with buying stuff, I have a running MR and just got another one to either put in another system that I have or use as parts, then I have just been out and purchased a X-Pro roller and that has a nice white shell that I will look at using instead. using the extra MR as parts and selling the one that I have up and running to a mate that wants one.

I wanna tell you what Im going to do but that will spoil the supprise and someone might do it before me

Polycarbonate paints will stick fine. Because the paint is on the outside doesn't mean it will fall off in an accident any more than if it was painted on the inside. If an impact can knock the paint off the outside it would also knock it off the inside as well.
The only downsides are obviously rolling it on a hard surface will scratch the paint off the body, and being developed for painting inside polycarbonate paints aren't designed to give the best paint finish.

Ah, I see. Hope your mate likes the surprise. I suppose you could use a clear laquer on top of the paint (not sure whether you need a specific type to adhere to polycarbonate paint though) - that will give a more glossy finish and will be more scratch resistant.

You will never get a decent finish painting on the outside of lexan (polycarbonate). I would bet real money that after you try you'll be buying a new shell anyway, For all the stress of trying and the addition cost of all the paint you'll use I'd just go spend the £19 for a new one

Or the £12 for one from Concept racing... fyi the Concept racing ones are okay..but are made from a mould of a plaster mould of the original so has a few flaws. And they are a little dimply, not perfectly smooth. An expectable cheap alternative for bashing and good for painting practice.

For Airbrush Paint I'd go to either Jon's shop or Apex Models

Spray cans can be bought from basically any of the major model stores and sites. Here are the ones available from Apex...
