If your mobile, then you should be fine in waiting, if the pain is real bad, then A&E, my son had his out when he was 4 and he was really bad with it.

I don't think an RC forum is the best place for medical advice.

An inflamed appendix can rupture without a huge ammount of pain, peritonitis from a burst appendix is not nice.

Looking on NHS direct would be a good plan.

if your breath smells of pear drops its the first sign,if you lie down and get someone to push lighty on the opp side to the pain, then get them to lift off quickly,if it hurts on the side of the apendix then its deffo them,

mine burst 15 years ago, went to the doctors in the morning because i was up all night in pain, Doc said i had wind told me to go home and take some windeze tablets, he didn't even know where my appendix was, When i showed him where the pain was he said they were on the other side pointing to his appendix which would be my left side the thick git

When i was 8 at school a friend of mine died because they burst same doctor diagnosed her with a stomach bug.

So with that in mind i drove straight to AE and was rushed to theatre doc said i was just in time if i went home i wouldn't have been here the next day.

I was rushed to the emergancy surgery assesment unit in february last year. MY own Dr said appendix, two surgery dr,s said same then were over ruled by a senior Dr who said back because I had torn another two discs in December. The pain had started in december 09 after an accidental overdose on co-codamaol.
Thirteen months on pain is still there but has spread to my abdomin and right hand side of chest. They still claim nerve damage form the discs.
Dont let the doc,s fob you off.

I work in theatres and have seen at least 200 appendix op's. Like others have said go to your doc asap, in fact just go to a+e and tell em i think my appendix is burst! They will soon get you looked at and will jump you to the top of the que when you tell em it hurts really bad and you feel sick (true or not, it dont matter just get checked out).

Put it this way, if it IS your appendix, the longer you leave it the more racing you will miss and you dont want that!

Good luck bud

NHS Direct (got called back by a nurse and a doctor) did that to me late last year when I woke up in the night thinking someone was stabbing me (I live alone so it wasn't the Mrs!). It's only wind they said......

After a couple of hours of putting up with the pain which was getting worse and worse in my side/groin area I tried to drive myself to hospital and failed, so ended up having to call an ambulance at 5AM on a Sunday (I felt well guilty as to me ambulances are only to be used if you're about to die). The ambulance guy told me he knew I was in bad pain as my pulse was doing about 120 a min sitting still and my blood pressure was way high. Turned out it was a Kidney stone deciding it was time to leave my body!

That was, officially, the worst pain I have ever felt in my life The pain even made me chunder several times.
