hi all,
im after some advice... i have been racing touring cars for some years now, but happy days are on the horizon as after a four year absence my local rallyx club is back up and running and im keen to get back in to some 'proper' racing!. i just want some advice on what car to get, due to budget im probably looking at purchasing a used set up, im trying to stay away from any rtr packages as id like something aimed more at the higher end of the market, something that wont need upgrading after a short time. any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i have been sniffing around the mp9's but not really sure... |

The best advice I can give you is,
look at what the rest of the guys are running and at least if you do happen to brake something that you haven't got in your box they might. You can share each others set ups as well. If you do want a good 8th then I would go for an Associated RC8b, as they are a great sturdy unit and you can pick them up pity cheap. |

Best advice is to try a few if you can before you buy.
Many people will tell you that the car they drive is the best around, be it AE, Losi, Mugen, Hobao, Kyosho, Xray etc etc but until you actually try one, you'll never really know. Theres a few new cars on the market, the Durango DNX408 and the JQ THE car to name a couple, but the jury is still out on both models, having only been released in the last month or so. Another idea is to buy something similar to what a few of your clubmates are running, that way emergency spares should always be available. Also check the price/availability of spares. Kyosho tend to be a little expensive, Mugen a little hard to get hold of etc etc. Without sounding obvious, dont forget you'll need an engine, servo's, radio gear, wheels/tyres, starter box, glow starter, fuel bottle, tools, spares etc etc. Check the second hand section on here, some nitro stuff comes up occasionally, but you may be better off on MaxBashing as its nitro dedicated and most stuff sold is from reputable racers who tend to look after their gear. Dont buy from ebay unless you are really sure of what your getting! Each model has its merits and its pitfalls. Chances are, whatever you buy will be better than you are for a while anyway. My 2p.......buy a Losi 2.0 or EU. Brilliant, best car ever......but Im bound to say that ![]()

I think thats a Losi 8 1.0, but is similar. Maybe still for sale. For that kind of money I think I'd want to go have a look at it.

Cannot go wrong with a Losi 8IGHT, I strongly recommend one. I base this on the fact that it is a great car to drive, the support for them is massive and you won't struggle for advice on them.
