Default Controlling Jumps

Hi Guys n Girls
As you know im new to off roads so I was wondering how you control your cars over jumps.

So how will I stop the car flipping, twisting in the air and how to make that perfect landing every time without just hoping..

Practice practice practice.

more throttle will lift the nose, less / brakes drop the nose. On a 4wd car you can control the roll in the air a little by steering (changes the torque reaction) ... some effect in 2wd but less.

It is still the area I have the biggest failing in (waiting for the comments .. lol) and I've been racing off-road since the 80s .. just in a region where jumps have taken the "less is more" approach.

Getting better though ... at last!

it has to be said also that some jumps just can't be jumped well, if 'everyone' is failing on a jump then its probably not your fault.

if the jump is good and there are a steady stream of people doing it consistantly then approach it in the following manner

first, get the right line, the face of a jump is rarely uniform the full width of the track, watch the cars that make the jump well, use their line

second, pay attention to the speed that these guys are hitting the jump, get your speed set in advance and hit it with a constant speed
(yes there are times where you need to 'punch' a jump but if its that kind of jump and you are asking this question, just roll it for now)

third, once in the air, let off the throttle, this will give you room to add more throttle (raise nose) or grab the brakes (lower the nose)

landing is a non-issue if you have done the second and third stage right, once your in the air and your speed is wrong, only a ninja will be able to save you

there more you do all this and the more you do the jump you are looking to clear the more you will understand, and you can be hitting this jump over and over, punching, braking in the air and whiping it up all as second nature

You get could really trick and start talking about the steering whilst in the air. For example if the car is leaning to the left you can steer left which will help to bring it back to what your after, obviously the opposite is also true.

I think i'd just go with Chris for starters though, i guess the steering bit only comes when its not gone right to start with.
