Hi their.
Just getting to grips with my new X11 took out last night for the first time and got a decent setup produced . Although it was damp I didn't run the sway bars. Am I right in thinking the sway bars add a little more stiffness to the overall setup? obviously they dial out grip roll, just wondering if anyone has any tips to as and when to run them and also if by adding a certain sway bar setup you might need to compensate by coming down slightly in shock oils? as I notice their is a hard and soft option by changing the links. I know it's probably trial and error but a helpful starting point would be really useful Thanks Dan |

Hi Dan,
I would say in most instances with the pred it would be best to run the roll bar at least on the back. I very rarely ran a front one, but that's down to track type and personal preference. When you say they dial out grip roll do you mean body roll or actually flipping the car? roll bars limit the chassis roll through a corner but they generally make it worse over the bumps. They also generally give less grip through the corner but can help square the car up coming out as it stop the rear collapsing on one side under hard acceleration (this is useful on the pred). The other thing with roll bars is that you get less warning about reaching the limit, as there is less body roll, which can mean the car may throw you on your roof before you even realise you are about to roll. Its always a compromise, so by adding a roll bar you'll make it better on one particular part of the track and worse in another.. its just a decision you have to make which bits more important. You can always drill another hole between the two existing ones for more options if you need them. My basic setup is listed on the pred site which I used at Talywain and most of the year, that might be a good starting point. Its worth experimenting though so you know exactly what does what, you can always go back to what you know. Cheers Kev |

hi Kev.
i found with the front sway bar (red) it can help pull you round tight and twistys but mostly at low/mid-range throttle. it may have something to do with my setup but i do find my car will understeer into a corner if i go in to hot. any idea how i can dial in more steering above half throttle? alan
