B4 with Li-Po

Hi,

I want to use Li-Po's in my B4 (Orion Platinum 4800), and use weights to have the same weight as with the use of Ni-MH's. I want to drive Li-Po because it is very easy and cheap when you keep the lifespan in mind.
Is this a good idea and will it give about the same driving characteristics as normal? I'll use it with a LRP Sphere Competition TC and Orion Vortex 6,5 motor.

as long as you put the extra weight as close to the middle of the car as you can, then the handling will be similar.

I have found that unless my B4 is weighted down to the same weight as the car would be with ni-mih's in, then it literally falls over on the bumps at southport "back section"....which is not good...it also tries to do back flips over the jump if you are to keen with the throttle.

I use Orion Carbon 3200mah and an LRP Competition with a 2 star in it.

can confirm burgie is right, if you can find some get some lead flashing and mount it under the lipo!

some one has made a weighted plate to go under the lipo, quite ingenious!

Is it easy to make the full heats with a pack? Because with the 4800's it is possible to drive at least 2 heats with 1 pack.

unfortunatly there not legal in brca meeting, unlike tc class

I know, for the Belgian championship (I race in Belgium) they aren't allowed too, but for training and club races you can use them. This way, you don't have to use you Ni-MH's for training so they have more power for the championship. And with the Li-Po's you can train a lot without the batteries giving less power after a while.
So is it possible to use them (Orion 3200) for at least 2 heats without having to charge them?

Here at my track we run 10 minute mains. With the Orion Lipo 3200 it is more than enough to complete the race with a 13.5. We don't run any weight in our cars, except an ounce under the transmission, with the Lipos. We just tune the suspension to accomadate the lighter car. With the 13.5 we can gear at 27/81 and come off after 10 minutes at 100F.
