how do these modules attach to the transmitters?

each transmitter module has its own Globally Unique code & once the rx is programmed to that tx it only recognises that signal
![]() have a nose around the site, they will explain it better than me http://www.spektrumrc.com/DSM/Technology/spekTech.aspx

They use a really really long piece of very thin string.
That's why spektrum users still crash, that strings get all tangled and the cars trip over them.

Sorry, i mean the transmitter module attaching to the transmitter itself, eg so the sticks work!

KO Vantage aside (must be modded by Horizon UK) they just fit where the module goes normally, is this a trick question?

Just like any other module.
Firstly you need a modulated radio, then just remove/unclip the existing 27MHz/40MHz AM/FM PPM/PCM/HRS module and plug in the Spektrum module. It's worth looking outside Spektrum now though, to see if your radio manufacturer make their own module for 2.4GHz. Futaba for example make the FASST system for the 3VC/3PK radio which is superior to Spektrums in many ways (auto detects and allows both PPM and HRS modulation, as well as being on FHDSS rather then DSM). Other manufactures (KO, Sanwa etc) do their own modules too, and they are more likely to better suit your radio as they would be designed specifically for it, rather then generic modulation like Spektrum. |

No, sorry I really didn;t see how its a stupid question, I have never seen one up close so assumed it used some sort of plug/socket approach, but not where it would then fit into the transmitter. I have only ever owned one transmitter which even had modules!!

As an alternative question, I alredy have a futbaba 3vcs 2.4ghz, but was hoping to find a smaller receiver than the R603FS, are there any others compatible!?

Anyway the F603FS is a frickin tiny receiver considering it's a full blown 2.4GHz FHDSS receiver, I think I'm right in saying it's even smaller then the standard Futaba 40MHz receiver you get with the 3VCS, although I can't remember. (I too have 3VCS with FASST etc). Why do you need any smaller? Anyway the answer is definitely a no. The 603FS is the smallest, and indeed only receiver that operates with the FASST system. |

Wasn't talking about you showtime, Obviously I'm a fool but whilst I knew how the futaba module linked to the futaba transmitter, I didn't know how the spectrum linked to all various types of transmitter. FOr all I knew i could have been through a socket that sist behind the battery box or anything!?
Having nosed around the site I am guessing they all have different pin systems and module methods!? Like I said before, before my current transmitter I had never owner any tranny with modules! As for the size, I was looking at a car where the reciver sits between the steering arms, and it looked like a VERY small space. I was just trying to think of ways to get a smaller receiver if necessary! |

That's fair enough.
Well yes you are right, modules are different sizes for each transmitter, dependent on the manufacturer of the transmitter. Therefore when you buy a Spektrum system you have to make sure you get the right module for the right transmitter. For example, with the 3VCS the spektrum module looks just like the Futaba FASST module, and is same size with pins in right place etc. You should be able to fit the receiver in any car. I use my FASST system in 1/18th scale micro racing through to 1/10th electric and 1/8th rallycross and haven't come against a size issue yet. Obviously I'm not sure on the specifics on whatever car you are looking but it would be a huge oversight on the manufacturers part if you can't fit a receiver as small as the 603FS in. |

Thanks mate, and to show I am pre Futaba (I have always used them) as well as small I've been well impressed with how light the FS is too!
