Default Plugging in car battery while esc connected to pc

All,

I have an esc with a software option for managing profiles etc on pc. I'm unable to get it to work, and have been told that to make it work I need to connect the car battery to it as usual while it is plugged into the pc through the USB?? This sounds like a bad idea to me but wasn't sure!??

It's not the losi system by the way, but I have a feeling it may be a similar esc!

If Novak you DON'T need it plugged in.

If you need any other advice please have a look at the thread below and if not let me know, I'll PM you my number and give me a ring.

So which one have you got?

I have the Tekin & Orion esc's and they don't need the battery hooked up when using a PC to program them

GM won't communicate to the PC if the ESC has a battery connected.

Mine is the Dualsky, and it just goes to show they all work differently, it does indeed need the battery plugged in and to be switched on to use the USB!!

Very very neat little controller by the way, has dynamic timing, plus all the usual adjustments (including a life battery option to set cutoff for that type of cell!), and the case is metal and acts as the heatsink (though there's a fan socket for if needed!), so is ultra low profile! Giving it it's first run this weekend, looking forward to trying it!
