Default Lipo Charge

Can anyone help? I'm making a return to the sport after some time away and need some advise on lipo charging. I have a VTEC LRP 40C 5300 Lipo and a LRP Quadra Pro 3 Charger. My question is what settings should I use? I know there's some factory settings from out of the box are any of these's ideal? I've already tried to put a charge into the lipo but the charge desplay should a voltage of 8.4v when the lipo is only down as a 7.4v.

Also the capacity of the battery is 5300 but the charge only put 3500 before the alarm sounded and finished charging.

Please help

Charging to 8.4V is normal. 7.4V is just the "nominal" voltage of the cell based on what the voltage under discharge.

LiPo's use a "constant current/constant voltage" charge profile that charges the cell normally until it reaches 8.4V, then decreases the current gradually to maintain that voltage until the battery can take no more charge.

Out of the factory, the battery will have a partial charge, so taking 3500 is to be expected.

In brief - you used the right charge profile and your battery is behaving normally!

as abve it takes the voltage to 8.4v

aso dont be worried if smtimes if you run the battery down near the 6v cutoff (your esc should have one around 6-6.5v) that it actuly puts more mah back into the pack.

i ran my orion carbon 4600 down to near the cutoff in a 15 min blast and the charger balanced charged back 4750mah. its all normal im told, unless the pack looks swollen or gets hot the cells are good
