Default top speed motor and esc combos

hi im trying to get a bj4 to high speed for radar runs anyone got any advice on motors and esc i was thinking 3.5t but now im thinking 2.5t ,what escs will cope, will i need more cells as i down in turns eg do i need a 3s to power a 3.5t when a 5.5 would need a 2s lipo? any help will be greatly appreciated ,ive been doing speed runs with a velineon system so far and want more speed so i thought turns would be better than kv....am i right?

ok so i am now getting confused and with little help and money burning a hole in my pocket ,i dont want to make the wrong choice but i do want to make one!!....i want to do very high speed runs in a 1/10 bj4 like i say the velineon will do high 60's low 70's but i would like something much, much more powerful with a motor that fits in my bj4...im open to ideas ,i have been looking at the mamba max's but they top out at 60 mph as a system, exceed 3.5t systems look quicker but are only 2s so will that be a factor....like i say any help would be brilliant as ive had 57 views and no comments ...come on lads give me a hand

TBH you're probably getting no comments as no one on here really runs more than 2s and for racing 4.5 is considered too much power, let alone a 3.5!

Is there any possibility you could get a combo from an electric 8th scale in the car somehow? They can normally cope with higher voltages, good luck with working out gearing though

The Mamba Max Pro will take up to 6S lipo . Not sure what the motor limit is... but even running a 5.5T on 6S would be crazy fast. Not sure how you'd fit a 6S lipo in a BJ4 tho.

I may not be correct, but AFAIK a 3.5T running on 3S will be faster than a 2.5T on a 2S.

Buggies aren't really designed with high straightline speeds in mind - aerodynamics and the surface required for a high speed run kind of make them a bit pointless.

If I was trying to see how fast an RC car could go I'd be looking for a touring car of some description and a long length of smooth tarmac.

For a buggy the ability to make it around a rough track means that the top speed is academic.

Sorry!

i could fit 6s ,2 3s lipo packs just have to get the right size...ive read the mamba max pro wont actually handle anymore than 3s even though its rated 6s but the mamba monster will... but will a mamba monster 2200kv motor fit though as its a 5mm pinion and about 15 foot long
im actually looking at the logic exceed 3.5t would it power my bj4 or is it a tc system? i cant find the info anywhere
heres the system info
http://www.logicrc.com/?ItemId=M-FS-...0,c:60,c:60-34

should be mad fast it says 13,300 rpm/v so x that by 7.4 v = 96200

thats why i was trying really no-one else does it and it would be easy to get a touring car and go 80 mph or so but with a buggy its a challenge , im not put off by it though .....anyone wanna buy a bj4 lol !

LOL, I wasn't trying to put you off, just trying to say why noones posting much on here about it!

As long as the motor is 540/550 size then it should fit on the mounts without modification, you may need some cooling but as long as you can gear it right then it'd work

I Got my old b3 up to 70mph on a dual carrage way with 6 nimh 3200 cells and the mamba max 7200 kva motor and speedo

i would love to see how fast it could have gone with a 3s lipo

you will get a higher top speed with a sensorless brushless combo

hope this helps

what about the gm120 speedo

there is only one answer its the mamba max pro with 6s lipo and a 2.5T motor let it fly and get the cheat mode on and that is the fastest setup you will find

peetbee thanks for the info bout the sizes i was wondering ,nah ya aint put me off lol!..
slow bob 70mph with nimh sounds 'xitin' wouldnt you get more power with 2s lipo than 6 nimh 7.4 over 7.2?
battleaxe after more deliberating im looking into a monster max pro setup(5700kv with 3s) and then an extra motor to use with that esc (2.5t-3.5t),unless a mamba monster comes up then il wack that in and try n rip the wheels off
but any other crazy ideas keep em coming !

A low turn motor on 3 cell will be very powerful.

I think the most difficult thing will be gearing.

If you run on 3 cell then the motor will spin 50% faster, you may need to gear down to make the most of the power.

Also what tires are you going to use?

I run a 5.5 in my B4 and on the street the tires baloon quite dramatically at high speed (it was geared to around 60mph) this tire expansion can make it very difficult to control the car.

Foams would probably be the best bet, just make sure you glue them on properly so they wont explode.

so i need a 3s capable esc that will do a low turn then would a mamba max pro do that and say a 3.5 t velocity? i run on road tyres really hard to balloon but have been looking at foams but dont know much about them ,jaco seem to be good foam on roads does anyone know of others?
