hi,
I went to drive and suddenly the driveshaft began to turn himself, opened the diff and saw that he is destroyed So I ordered a new "bevel gear set", and "Steel Diff Outdrive Set" I heard there was a way to assemble the diff which is strong and it will not happen again. How to put it right, or what to do to prevent this situation again? thx ![]() |

Which bits are damaged?? The plastic gears??
If they are you must make sure you " shim " the diff up against the bevel gear. You need to get the very thin spacers (shims) put these onto the outdrives (before the bearings) place into the gearbox casing then check the " backlash " (put shims on either side until you feel its ok)while holding one gear so it doesnt move, rock the other, you need a small bit of movement. Once you have this right, put some teflon grease to lubricte them. When checking all this remove the main blue drive shaft this way you have a better idea on the adjustment you have made. When you add the grease you can spin the outdrive ( the bit the blue center shaft goes into ) with your fingers to get the gears coated nicely. DO NOT put an excessive amount of grease on, just enough to coat the gears otherwise you may with ise contaminate the diff! If you need info on diff building, let me know ![]() |

Nick is the best person on diffs as he has spent many month - years getting them right ![]() Also it could be your diffs are to tight? But i would suggest you strip the diff & clean it all up rebuild to the manual. Check for any worn parts like diff balls, depending just how old they are been run dry or dirt build up. Also the slipper plates i would get bit of wet dry just clean them up dont go mad just soft clean up gets rid of any crap build up etc. Nick if I'm wrong put me straight ![]()

thanks everyone.
the diff is not too tight, so its not the problam. the plates are clean, if we are talking about clean, i noticed that when i opened them they were very dirty, even now the tooth gear is a bit dirty. i think the problam is the tooth gear, i think ill go to my local hobby store and fix this up. |

If one side of the diff isnt turning in the opposite direction, maybe it was too loose?? Very hard to tell without seeing it! Cheers Nick ![]() |

You need a 2mm hex driver to undo the bolt which goes into the nyloc nut..
Incidently you do have the small spring in there dont you? it goes in the outdrive the side the nyloc nut goes in? ![]() |
