Default Roof advice

Does anyone know anything about roofs, I'm in need of some (informed) advice please specifically about this spray on roof insulation that seemingly fixes all problems (mine leaks when windy).

Apologies this is nothing to do with model cars. I read as many positive reviews as bad ones it seems so really not sure what to do.

Can we avoid jokes in this please as I'm a little stressed about this.

Any help/expreriences much appreciated!

Dan

Yes, I have insulation on this, I have the foaming on my roof, yes, it is like the slippy white stuff.

I get it from my neibour (he has i-pod nano - yes) it is like white jelly that streeks in it, he plaster it in me and it keep water off. He been collecting for long time.

Hight five?

Angled, tiled, but pretty old. No obvious holes but it still leaks.

can't see spray on insulation will work to stop leaks, drafts yes, leaks no... loose tiles and torn membrane sounds the cause... insurance time.

I have a few rattles tiles, that need settling down again, but no torn membrane, only proper fix is to lift the tiles, remove batten, remove membrane, put new stuff down, rebatten and hope to use the old tiles.

You could check for holes in the fascia boards but I doubt it.

It's not guttering, leak too high up.

Insurance won't touch it, already tried, say it's an old roof and it's down to lack of maintenance (probably right).

It's an old roof with no under felt, the foam (after some minor works) is suppossed to bond them all together, sealing any leaks so they don't lift and leak in the wind.

thing is Dan, with anything, these 'easy' fixes normaly make the propper fix a couple of years down the line, far more difficult, unless you can get a company (reputable) to warranty their work from defects and leaks for ten years or so?

I've seen something like those foam sprays at our county show, looks quite good stuff, but expensive. I'd get quotes for putting a membrane under the tiles as well for a comparison. We have holiday lets and the roof went on one of those(old properties), insurace covered it under storm damage and that was torn membrane.
Good luck whatever you decide to do

Comes with 25 year anti leak guarantee.

Going to get quotes for normal re-roof as the lowest price on the foam and associated works) is 3.2k

If your planning to stay there a while then a proper job is the only way to go, no point patching up bits, it will cost you more in the long run.

If your tiles are sound, then they can be re-used, or if a few are cracked, gotton from a salvage yard, most of the cost will be labour as long as they don't find nasties. and get yourself some new UPVC Soffits and fascia boards at the same time Dan.
