Hi all,
can some one tell me what are the best tools for trimming a lexan body shell? Im trimming a 1/10th buggy shell and it has some tight spots so cant get the curved lexan scissors in there, is there any tips or any advise out there that some one can let me in on. Appreciate any advise ![]() Thanks Matt |

dremmel works well with a choice of bits, take care tho or you melt the lexan, If not a sharp hobby knife, score the lines a few times then with pliers you should be able to break the peice out leaving a nice crisp clean edge. Oh but be very carefull not to slip or at worst you will have a finger off or at best leave a score line and the shell is sure to split along that line when in use

Thanks for that. I have got a xacto hobby knife but for some reason its struggling to cut the lexan, I was hoping that there was easier ways of cutting it or even some sort of tool that you could buy so you can get a professional job.

The knife needs to be sharp or you will need too much pressure and you might slip. You should then be able to snap the lexan without damaging the paint and get a nice straight curve. Practice on some offcuts before doing it on the real thing. I cut all my bodies out this way and they always turn out nice.
