yes i know it has been talked about before but this is a little different
over here we run with a silver can for one of our national classes and the heat problem is a real problem, my current gearing is a 28 with a 78 spur, and the car seems to go well for a few laps and then the speed seems to drop off to nearly a crawl i cant go any lower in the gearing as i would be to slow, just cant keep up with the losi the things i have done to reduce heat so far is run losse belts have no undertray ( i know weird) ( using body posts at the front of the batterys instead) have a fan mod going to the motor anybody else have any ideas i use the KO vfs 1 comp for a speed control (thought this might be in thermal so instead of shutting down just reduced power)???? the motor is hot enough that you cannot touch it any ideas would be great cheers |

Just out of interest - how does the 540 fit and what brand is it? I tried to fit a Mabuchi RS540 (tamiya kit motor) to the car for my wife to race - and it rubbed on the belt because of the large diameter around the motor bearing. Not sure if that would be the cause of the problem in your case - but how free is the car with / without the motor?

we use the standard johnson motor with no real problems, the car itself is as free as i can get it , not quite as free as the BD the front belt seems tight even though its on the last notch

28/78 seems like a very high gearing, on my bx i run 15/84 and i gets really hot.
But i run LRP X11 6.5 brushless. //P |
