Default Building my Bx at last

I have decided to keep her and not trade her in for a B44. She is 60% built now. A real joy to put together. I love the little things, like the fact the hinge pins are rounded at the ends, not just cut off.. and all the aluminoum fits airtights against it's neighbour, magic!

Got my Novak 5.5 GTB so I will be ready to roll over the winter and into 2008.

Wish I had the Factory team instruction manual in English though.. any ideas?

I just used the Englush regular manual off the web

http://www.yokomousa.com/manuals/bx_manual_en.pdf

and compared to the Japanese Factory manual, the differences are very minor. (In fact the diagram for the rear ball mounting point in the Factory manual is wrong, shows inner, it should be outer).

Cheers Jonathan, I will take a look at the ball mounting. It is all built now apart from the rear diff which is missing a thrust ball. Just need a colour scheme now, I considered copying the colours that I used on my Dogfighter all those years ago, but looking at some old photo's of it i think not! (it was the 80's!)

Have ordered Yokomo stickers from Jimmy.

Does anyone know what spec the black springs are that come with the kit and how the compare with Associated ones?

Would love to run it at the end of year finals (Can I run a 4wd final even if i never ran any 4WD rounds?).. but i dont know if i will be in China or not that weekend.

Well i ran at the indoor finals last year and i hadnt done any 4wd nationals or regionals. You should run it at kiddy 4wd regional that is hopfully gonig to be resceduled. It will be fun racing you in 4wd i raced jeff today but he beat me but i think it was close he didnt lap me or get a huge distance on me.

Yokomo don't seem to give us spring rates, but the black springs are a little on the hard side. Luckily you can use AE springs, a lot of guys in Oz run silver fronts, green rears (as in the BJ4 as well). I tried orange all round and that worked quite well.

Neil, i think i answered most of your q's at the weekend but let me know if you have any more. I've now built jeff's up for him and he should have it at Os on Thursay if you want to take a look. Once we'd found the rogue speedo/servo wire prob after you went he was going great with it and enjoying it. Came off with a massive grin and wanted to race straight away again.

As for springs, i've not been able to find rates to compare with others. As for order it goes Hard-->soft Black, Orange, Green, Pink... (just off top of head so will check later) I've found black/orange/green best on front with green/pink on rear.

Thanks guys. Just came back off holiday today. My set of new thrust balls was on the mat when i arrived so i set about building my rear diff (I had a thrust ball missing before).. but i have gone and broke the diff screw. It sheared at the diff nut, clean off... so i have had to order both. I think my diff is cursed. It was my own fault, i wasnt reading the instructions and thought i would tighten it like my B4 diff (fully tight then 1/4 back)... you cant do this as I found out....

Maybe its a sign telling you not to run 4wd

Only joking, I’ve done the same with my micro diffs, its easily done!

Give Jeff a bell. I gave him some spares with his car on Sunday and i think there was a new in pack diff screw there. (though you may have to describe what it looks like... )
