Default Why do my tyres keep going soft?

On my 54 plate Fabia VRS?

Tyres in good condition, no visible corrosion on the rims, and I've had all the wheels water dipped to see if the valves are weeping, but nothng.

Yet all 4 tyres gradually lose pressure to the point I'm checking them at least once a week

Any ideas 'cos it's driving me nuts?

id have the tyre beads glued if they are oldish or damaged on the outer part of the rim as water gets behind the paint/clearcoat and corrodes the rim

I meant around the outside of the valve - where it seals with the rim, not the actual valve itself

How old are the tyres? These days, once they get to be four or five years old they start to rot and will leak easily. My 5 year-old Michelins went funny on me and got out of round. My wife's car does little mileage, but we have to replace tyres after six years because they just start to break down. New tyres are always perfect, holding pressure for weeks on end. HTH

Fronts are around 6 months old and are the worst culprits out of the 4 tyres - probably as there's more weight on the front.

It's not serious - it's just a pain having to keep checking them. And being low profile (205/45 R16) it's not always obvious when they've gone soft.

It might be an idea to have the tyre's removed to check if the bead has bead damaged whilst fitting! most tyre fitters would never own up to ripping the bead, and being 16inch 45's they would be fairly tight!

It will be mild corrosion (furry cack) on the alloy. Causing a weak seal.

If you get tyres replaced on the cheap or fitted by 17 year old apprentices, they tend not to use wire brushes on the inside of the alloy to remove the cack. They also have a habit of not balancing correctly or removing the old weights before they start again grrrr lol.

Iv found this many a time as i tend to buy tyres on the cheap.

Lesson learned for me anyways.
