IF I TAKE THE ENGINE,ELECTRONICS AND TIRES OFF MY RC CAR CAN I POWERWASH IT?

Use Muc off (Halfords), leave it 2-5 minutes, agetate with a toothbrush or something, then hose down... then coat in GT85 (rather than WD40), and then use paper towel to help dry. Once it is partially dried, put it somewhere warm while you clean all the stuff you took off - by the time they are ready it will be bone dry.

It'd take the same amount of time to remove the motor and electrics and power wash it, as it would to leave the electrics in and clean it properly.

I wouldnt recomend it as you may force dirt into your bearings.

If you removed the bearings then you could use a power washer to get the chassis very clean, although it would be just as easy to put the plastic parts into a sink full of washing up liquid and water.

65 degrees isnt going to do any harm, to any plastics most of them get hotter in the car,and yeh it works in the dishwasher but wait till the missus is out shhhhhh

so go on then, why do many folk put plastics in boiling water for 5 mins? cuz it makes em more durable and less prone to breakages!



same as chris says works wonders, a good cspray with back to black or dash board cleaner gives it a showroom look after.

i use it to shif the main crap then strip and wash in an ultrasonic bath (good one)

Diff plates corrode pretty quickly when they have been wet. I can tell you that from personal experience desite me drying my car with a hair dryer after giving it a "bed bath" with a wet toothbrush

My personal opinion is that i wouldnt unless i had removed all the bearings and diffs first. Water will sit in the bearings and corrode them making them a little notchy unless you remove them individually, blow the water out and re oil them.

I take my car to bits to clean it now.

Thats my 2p and experience anyway.

It depends on the car, id never do this to a 10th car, instead id strip and rebuild it over a few evenings. The rallycross on the other hand, takes about an hour tops.

saw it done at the worlds in japan 2007.although considering the lime(or whatever it was)they put on the track it was probably a good idea then.i striped my car and cleaned it with wd 40 but still ended up replacing the metal bits(motor plate etc) when i got back due to corrosion.

Engine,electrics,fuel tank and centre diff out,spray with muc off and jet wash it, once you've done that,if you have access to an airline, clean the excess water off and then place in a warm area to dry the moisture out. I've been doing this for about a year now on my MBX6T with out any problem's.It then gets striped down to check diff's are ok and any bushes need changing and rebuilt.

As far as dirt in the bearings go, i never had an issue with this.

Put them on the coolest wash and take them out before the drying cycle starts and dry them with kitchen roll there like new then..

hate to say this as i know i will get grief but i agree with ash lol. have dish washed 10th cars myself but only as a last resort and normally they are stripped down to component form by then anyway defo brings them up like new

+1 on this, been doing the same with my X2 for a year now and all still good (hose not jet wash), I also soak the car in GT85 leave for a while then air line it again, using the gt85 to drive any water out too! Feel this is better than keep stripping car as it wears out screw holes etc!
