Default conectors

hello rite i have had some more batterys come today, but i want to get all my batterys and chargers and esc's all matching conectors, i dont like deans, i have enough ec3 conectors to do it all in my box but im not sure if they will be man enough to do the job, they are the same as the losi conectors, the most i am going to be pulling is for a 6900kv brushless with 5200 30-40c 2s lipos, has any one used these before or should i bin them and order new set of conectors? any help be great thanks

Deans or Corally plugs are the most popular

What about a tamiya style plug? Oh you might need some wire cutters too..... and maybe a crow bar to get thm two halves apart.

Failing that you only other choice is a corally style connector if you don't want to use deans

I prefer Corally's, never had an issue with all the years racing.

Plug straight into lipos and don`t seem to deteriorate with age.

Ok you have to make sure you don`t plug leads in the wrong way round but a little bit of care cutting wires the right length and routing wires so they cant be confused sorts that out.

Something like this :

4mm "corally" connectors are the only way to go, imho. They are efficient, don't melt, and are quick to connect/disconnect.

But the number one thing going for them is that they plug right into lipo packs.

Cheers,
Ty

The EC3 connector's are essentially smaller corally's in a body, so stick with those if you have battery's with wires coming out of them.

The contacts in the EC3's are 3.5mm in size, and rated to 60 amps. They are slightly smaller than the 4mm corally standard, which are rated to about 80 amps, but are still rated higher than deans at 50 amps.

If your using lipo's with 4mm tube's in them, then the 4mm corally tube is the only option. Using anything else puts another pair of connectors in your wiring...and every extra connector you have is another risk of failure. I use the standard 4mm Corally's due to the extra current they cope with...and my lipo's having them built in.

I'm not a fan of deans generally either.

I have just noticed though, they do an EC5...5mm corally style...120 amps!!! They look interesting too!

blue pinky thanks mate you are the first one to reply lol one pair of batterys i have i can use 4mm straight into but the other 2 (my better ones) are hard wired so ether way one pai is going to have a joint, but i did think earlyer many peps use the 3.5mm bullets for there motor conectons so i can see it being any probs. will just keep an eye on the the temps of the joints for the first couple runs, thanks

Have a look at the Traxxas connectors. They are easy to solder and to use as they are larger than Deans. You can't connect them the wrong way around like you can using Corallys either. They also won the best connector in Radio Race Car.

No, but it sounds like you're not to keen on using anything that you already have either!
