today after we have put up with our random internet connection BT have replaced the line from the house to the street and my broadband isn't like a 56k modem now

Steam is now cruising down at 603kb

Nice one. Did you have to pay for it? We are currently working with O2 to get BT to improve my line in the street.

We moved from AOL (0.2mb/s speeds) and am now on O2 with a steady 1.44mb/s but this is below what my line is capable of (5mb/s). O2 have run some tests and are calling me today so we can see how to contact BT.

nope. we've suffered with noise on the line for months since moving into this new house and the internet was on and off. playing games online would work well for 1hr and then DC you. downloads could be 500kb and then swap to 1kb without warning. the phone was very crackly late at night and fine in the day.

BT did say if there wasn't a problem on the line or it was my gear then they would charge us £120 though... luckily he found a problem!
