Default Spektrum Aerial Length

I have just bought a spektrum module for my esprit 3, the question is, in the book it says you can shorten the reciever aerial to 3.6". Is this form the outside of the case and will this length give enough range for UK tracks??
Many thanks
Andy

I knew you would if I did LOL

I cut mine to 3.6" but have only used it once and I'm not totally sure if I was interferance free Sunday, but it's hard to tell in all that crap at Oswestry.

Don't go by what I say though, I am a newbie to Spektrum.

Ive cut mine to about 4" just to make sure its works on all tracks but i would imagine it would be fine at 3.6"

Andy

I've left mine at stock length and wrapped it round the base of the ariel holder. with just enough tube so the rubber cap touches the holder, and the ariel is completly inside the car, with no holes cut in the shell.

ive cut 1 of my rx'ers and left 1 long, don't see any difference, and the cut to 3.6'' is important i wouldnt use 4'' or any other length apart from what they say, something to do with reception so im told.

no interferance just your HRS kit's not compatable with the 3vc , how did you find it anyway, i know some of the top drivers don't use it because they say the notice a lag but to be honest at my level i don't!

I have not trimmed my aerial, but what I have been doing is taping the wire to the chassis. It works at such high frequency that graphite causes no harm anyway, and it would be less harmless to tape it down than to cut the wire short.

Oh, the other thing, if you run LRP or a fariance of, then the BEC is garbage and Spektrum is weakened. Get some orange power and the BEC is plenty for Spektrum, even the first GTB's.

May sound like a silly questions, but what are the benefits of a power cap?

Thanks in advance!

No... not yet, just trying to fix the low BEC problem I was getting with my 40mHz receiver in my 2WD car.

Although I've not tried it with the replacement speedo I got a few months back, as it only happens about 4 minutes into a run (when the cells are starting to drop in voltage)..

PHIL:

You obviously didn't notice it happening in your 4wd aswell. I was marshalling your race and was thinking "how can he go that fast with interferance". It was similar to what was happening in your 2wd but not as bad.

CHRIS: Happy with the hrs stuff, all seems to work fine.
