Default CAT SX gearing 7.5t

I've put together a CAT SX Phil Booth edition with a 7.5t LRP X12 motor and LRP SXX esc for my son. Can anyone give me a recommended pinion size to start with on the stock spur? I installed a 23t and gave it a quick 5min run but the motor is running fairly hot. Would like it to run cooler than that.

Try a 24 then

Seriously : It don't have much experience with the X12 motors (using SP), but 23/83 is the gearing I us on my SP 6.5. My general experience with BL motors is that they're more sensitive to undergearing then overgearing.

Thanks guys. I've just read some of the team setups and the guys run 21/83 with a 5.5 so I guess going to a 24 or even a 25 is the right direction.
