Was watching the local news earlier and heard a story about 5 kids being seriously injured after the 'model car fuel' they were using to start a fire, exploded!!!
This is the sort of action that will end Nitro racing in the UK. Any more smart action like this and the health and safety will start getting silly all over our asses!! Personally, I think it serves them right for being so dumb in the first place! ![]() |

I lit a BBQ with 25% Byrons once. It melted the BBQ and set fire to the next door neighbours fence!
But then I've got a masters in chemistry and work as a science teacher........

I know somebody singed his eyebrows burning off some old 'dead' fuel.

But it only takes a few more idiotic kids messing around like this again for the authorities to question why/how the kids got hold of the fuel.
Then the next thing you know, we'll all need a licence to buy it. .....maybe thats a good Idea! To buy nitro fuel you must have a brca lisence or some sort of insurance? Still, it the usual case of some idiots spoiling it for the rest of us. ![]() |

Chances are, they would make it so you have to be over 18, like for buying white spirits and paraffin, which wouldn't cause to much of an issue.
There is far more dangerous stuff under the sink in the kitchen.

Yeah would agree. I would say Petrol is way more dangerous but all you need to have is proof your over 16 years of age. I'm sure nitro models/fuel have small print saying children must be supervised. Your a child till 16 anyway so question is what where they doing unsupervised??

Hey now, I used to play around with nitro fuel too!
In fact... If you had a little nitro residue inside a fuel bottle and a small flaming spill on the ground you could make a nice flamethrower and WHOOOMFF by simply squeezing air out of the bottle and letting it suck the flaming fuel back into it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Jon |

Huh. Guess they don't make em like they used to!
EDIT: The small diameter bottles work best, not the fat stubby ones. |
