Default Gadget Show / Monday Night Coming

Saw the trailer for it last night and they may be doing something with RC cars. Longest jump perhaps?

They met up with people from TM and MSUK-Forum, and a few other people. Should be a good episode.

The cars will be driven by The Gadget Show presenters Suzi Perry, Jason Bradbury, Jon Bentley and Ortis Deley. So this will not only be a test for the strenght of the cars but also a challenge for the presenters' driving skills!

Anything they set will easily be beatable.

When they have the twin engine 1/8th buggy which they launched off a ramp, the owner had majorly de-tuned the engines, so he could of beaten anything they did! To be fair though, with the amount of money he put into that car, anyone else would do the same (lets just say you could buy around 10 1/10th buggys or more!)

They beat the record... They were helped a lot by Team Modelinc, quite a large UK bashing group.

Last time they covered RC cars at the ROSSA speed event in 2008 they didn't do it well. They didn't treat the guys that went to huge efforts to help them with any respect, nor did they credit them for the work that went into organising it.

This time I hear that they were far better organized and actually took an interest in some of the technical aspects. Hopefully that's reflected in the program.

I went along to the filming of this, as technical support for the HPI/HB models.

Should be worth watching I think.

I would say with a bit more of a run up/more experianced driver we could have doubled the lenght the cars jumped!

A shame the 'controlled landing' looked a bit of a fluke, would be nice to see a world record take a bit more skill. Well done anyway and always good to see RC on TV .

Think they went for 1/8 because of the added weight. The weight seemed to help them fly further. I think with a better ramp and a better drive this record is easily up for grabs. Still made good TV; plus all the presenters hung around after the show to talk with the guys that made this possible.
