what would the possibilities be of running the tamiya minis (M0-3) at the club. I have noticed that russ at future world models has started to sell them and i know that other clubs run them as a budget class so that you are limited to what you can do. I know that the rules at other clubs are as follows:
1. M03 chassis 2. any tamiya radial tyre-we could use the ftx blaze wheel and tyres for grip on our surface 3. tamiya kit motor silver can with silver end 4. 2200mah stick packs, no lipo's this is just a suggestion so thoughts and opinions are welcome regards tom |

Hi Tom,
Any club has to be careful about introducing another class as it could actually dilute the focus of the club and as we are still very new, my personal view is that we have got it just right at the moment. What you have to remember is that if we introduce a class because one or two drivers have bought one, where does that stop - Pro10, 1:10 buggies (indoors), F1, Bikes, 1:12 Circuit the list goes on... Just because another club runs a class for Mini's is not a reason to follow suit. If you are looking at a basic no frills class then hold on, as I now have details about the changes to the Micro classes - can't give out details just yet, but trust me you will know about it very soon. This means that there will be changes to the micro class, but as we have already started the Spring Championship, you'll have to wait. I shall be discussing with the Comittee in the coming weeks and then we will be in a position to make an announcement as to how the micro's will be changing. Trust me, it's exciting news for those who are looking for a fun, cheap alternative to the TCs ![]() It is also worth noting that the club will be introducing a lot more classes if/when we get the off-road planning approved - watch this space. |

Well said Scott ![]() Over here in the States we're seemingly quite famous for adding the "class of the month" (or the year) - oftentimes different motored versions of a pre-existing class - and all it does, as you suggested, is dilute the current field of cars...and pretty soon what happens is that another class is superceeded and goes away because ultimately you're dealing with the same number of racers racing the same number of cars. It's dumb and just costs more money because people feel forced to buy new cars to replace ones that didn't really need replacing. But it really seems to be an initiative by folks that want to find a class to win at, when in reality once that class gets populated they'll still find themselves in the back of the pack again as faster guys take to it. This thread for example, IMHO, if people want to add an M03 class so as to be more budget conscious go ahead and get them and run in a pre-existing comperable class (or with the M05 boys). Sure you're going to finish further back, but that's what they're asking to do anyway by wanting to run slow/within budget. |
