Default Tamiya tyres... Dont laugh lol.

Does anyone use the tamiya tyres? Im after a tyre thats as good as a schumacher and slightly cheaper. Grip wise can be a compromise as new yellows tend to offer to much grip on my local tracks ( bury \ southport) It pains me to cut the outside row of spikes to calm the car down slightly only to need them cut off spikes 1 week later when the grip is dissapearing lol

Iv since seen the tamiya range of tyres which will roughly equate to £4 fronts and about £4.40 rears.

For this price from the pics it looks like you even get inserts

I'd really like to see cheaper tyres available to the uk market, but sadly i dont think its going to happen..

Anyones opinions??

I've used those indoors and they were fine. The inserts are a bit too hard maybe though - but the compound aint far off yellow.
Outdoors the 'spikes' might be arranged a little too densely, but I think they will be OK and should wear better than schu.

Sounds good then. If they last longer, great. My yellows seem to go off really quickly. If a tyre can last longer im sure the performance advantage will outweigh the initial mega grip that the yellow offers which then rapidly dissapears....

Schumy blues.

They were the tyre to have before yellows came out, they supply good grip and dont wear as fast. Give them a try before using tamiya tyres as they wil ldefinatly comprimise handeling.. and schumy tyres are the tyres you need to use for the southport series.

Hmmm do you reckon that the inserts would be better than my super soft air filled moth eaten inserts Jimmy lol.

I will give blues a try i think paul. I just liked the idea that the tamiyas were nice and cheap as well. We were having a chat about tyres over the weekend and as you know yourself at southport they sadly dont last long

it depends.. i run one set at big meetings.. push two out of two meetings when i need to.. but blues will definatly work, people still use them at the club. Yellows just give an advantage due to the softer carcas which is why people run them. Nothing wrong with blues though.

Colin, don't be offended but try taking out the crazy fast brushless motors and put something a little more sensible in until you stop stamping on the gas like you're driving a rental car.

yellows provide the best grip, if you look for tyre life then that will be acheived by the loss of maximum grip on a new tyre comparison.
