Default XXX-S and XXX-4 front and rear diffs

Hi, as some of you may know I need to rebuild at least one of my diffs.

I have found the following for sale at my lhs:

Quote:
Red alloy solid front diff (XXXS)

I realise that as a locked diff it will affect the way the car drives (this doesn't bother me though). Will it fit in the front or rear of the XXX-4? I have the original XXX-4, are the front and rear diffs the same? As on my car, they appear to be identical, but I know the G+ is meant to have different diffs front and rear.

Thanks in advance,
Alexi

Don't do it!!!!

As you say it will completely kill the handling of the car. Besides they are made from alloy and probably won't last 5 minutes in an off-road car. I know they have plastic covered pins for the driveshafts, but I doubt they'll do much to save the alloy diff.

Sorry, I know this will confuse a few people (I gather most of you are racers), but I don't care about handling (else I would have bought an XX4 ). So that doesn't matter to me.

However, if they wont stand abuse (10 IB4200's and a Mamba), then they are a nono. Thanks for the advice.

Isn't the whole point of a diff to allow each wheel to turn faster / slower depending on which way you're turning. So, for example, if turning right then the inside wheel turns faster and the outside wheel turns slower.

A locked diff will totally ruin the handling IMHO.

A locked front diff will give you severe understeer as the nose will be trying to push on the entire time.

I doubt you'll be able to accelerate in a straight line without a rear diff and 10 cells. Don't do it!

Sorry lads, but as I said, it doesn't matter. As for not being able to go in a straight line super__dan, I'm quite used to that

I previously had the mamba and 10 cells in my custom mad bull, with locked diff, so as you can well imagine, as far as I am concerned, the diff is just there to put power to the wheels
