in a moment of madness I got a 2nd hand rc12L3, now i need the rest, but, im in no rush as theres plenty of off road this year..
Im gonna need a shell, electrics etc etc. Any 12th racers on here have any reccomendations ? do people still use those little receiver packs ? I have a few ESC's, keyence zero-v extreme, quantum 2 and among the best ones I have, will these run the radio gear on the 4 cell race packs ? is there still 2 classes, 6cell stock and 4 cell modified ? never even seen one go in the flesh, but bit of a laff innit!. ![]() |

its all 4 cell now jimmy. 4 cell mod and 4 cell 19 turn
esc = use your quantum two, its light and has nice power use the smallest receiver you have. less weight = more speed! ![]() buy a few T plates as spares. get some different stiffness front springs, a few rear springs and shock oils. youl find looooads of info on 12thys on the racechat sub section. the 12th guys on there are top banana. |

i used 48 dp.
64 is really only for fine tuning, i think 64 dp will make you go faster.. but i did alright with 48 |

I run 1/12th all winter exclusively. Out here, we run 99% 19T motors. It's a perfect blend of speed, maintenance and ease of setup. Love them—especially the Reedy flame 19T. You have to gear the snot out of them, though. I was running crazy rollout with mine.
Unless you are running mod motors, you don't need a receiver battery pack. I run Spektrum on my 19Ts and never had any issues, and that's running 10 minute practices. Bodies here in the US are a bit different than the UK. I think Europe is partial to open cockpit bodies for some reason. Here, 90% of the bodies are Protoform Speed12s. CEFX, Parma, Protoform are all great shells. Tires for stock/19T are purple front/grey rears, and mod usually starts with pink/double pink. I prefer Jacos myself, but there are a lot of suppliers of tires that will get you close. In 12th scale, 64p gears are wonderful for fine tuning your gear ratios. I run 64p in all of my carpet cars. To carry: - .075" T-bars (don't bother with thinner ones on carpet) - Buy a selection of front Associated springs (at least 2 pairs of .018", .020", .022") - Buy a selection of rear springs for the VCS shock Nice things to have on the car: - machined shock nut (CRC, Silva, etc) - .125" ceramic diff balls - IRS rear ride height adjustment kit Other than that, they are wonderfully simple to own, maintain and race. You'll be hooked. ![]() doug |

Your mad!
Start with 19 turn 4cell on about 54mm/rev you'll be fine Run 48dp just gear it correctly there's no speed advantage to 64dp just gives finer adjustment. jaco gray rear purple fronts or the equivalents, Thin 0.63 t-bar 0.20 front springs 30wt shock oil green spring would be a good start point for any uk track. Try starting with a protoform p35 it may be ancient but still one of the easiest shells to use the drinking scene is nearly as good as the offroad without tents, euros is open entry this year was Gran Canaria 30 deg sunshine whilst its snowing back in blighty. Chesterfield national is on this weekend if you fancy nipping down to see what its all about |

in answer to the body shells we have an approved list to choose fromthe speed 12 was never added as protoform produced a replica of the bentley speed 8, there was never a bentley speed 12 and the bodies have to be based on an actual car the shell was never made legal. we had the same discussion about the parma but that was a few year back and i've drank and slept since then.
We also have other rules in europe with the addative being oudorless resulting in less grip but a more enjoyable experiance i.e. the car stuff not being banished form the house. For those who dont know try vicks sinus inhaler but even stronger all day. The other question here is what will they run at the worlds, its in europe ie oudorless but the rest of the world run smelly stuff??? |

Cheers guys.
paul showed me some springs on ebay last night so might have a go at those. ian, any idea what size spur i should get and indeed what sort, is a kimbrough one going to do the job ? is there a 48dp chart somewhere for calculating the roll out thing ? Do they race them around your way or is teesside my closest ? ive got a 19 turn V2 motor I can bung in it for starters, just need to get all the other bits sorted. any online shops with a bit of a range of shells ? i was looking on microtechracing.co.uk but theres only a few, the parma zytec looks a bit cool. ![]() |

action model centre or modeltech...Both fairly big on 12th. BRM too and they do wheels cheap on there. I think morley are stocking a fair bit as a while back they were trying to get a 12th heat running. The guy there was running a CEFX
I've got the nissan, speed 12 and had a speed 8. I liked them all I bought a box of wheels which were used when the additive was smelly and even now the smell is minging.. If batley put a heat on I'd be willing to have me first blast at racing |

Wym at AMC somewhere down devon is the man in the uk for all twelth
http://www.actionmodelcentre.co.uk/ 01803 666556 kimbrough spurs work great use those that fit the tc3 69,72&75 i think most people at nationals run the zytec its a bit more agressive than the p35, but not as bad as the cefx or crc rollout is calculated by (tire diameter*pi)/(spur/pinion) there is a full spreadsheet out there somewhere but i aint got a clue where round by me there is chesterfield but we normally have a few month break till we start back with the rugrats as the nats run oct thru march |

My current 12th scale car is a BMI 12L4 conversion. I didn't like the funky, Mickey Mouse front end on the CEFX car, and the rear pod plates were part of the graphite top plate, and the motor screws would move on the graphite. Nice car—all high-end stuff comes with it, but the car lacked some stable tuning aids that I am used to. I had WAY too many 12th scale cars (still need to get rid of a 12L4), so I sold the cars I wasn't comfortable with.
The body was something I was experimenting on. It looked AWESOME on the track, especially with the fluorescent yellow TRC wheels. Thanks on the decals... I made those. ![]() |

Yay Jim, come play at the weekend!!
Oh and Ian (Barnard)... LIKE HELL is the 12th scale drinking scene as good as offroad! I've done two nationals where I've stayed over... one of them I was in bed by 10.45 because I was so bored! The other, fairy snuff I went out, but I was still in bed at about 1.30... a LOT earlier than offroad... and after having a lot less fun! The racing's a bit crazy... you'll see Jimmeh...
