Default 42163 TRF511 Box Type Battery Holder

Tamiya have announced some new stuff for the next model expo.. including

42163 TRF511 Box Type Battery Holder

Nice.. a proper lipo solution for the 511 and 501..

Other things of note is the 58456 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 (TA05 Ver.3)

v.2 isn't even a year old, as it only broke cover in spring last year... might of been later than that.. I want to see a LiPo specific car!!

Trust me, there is no version 3 and that was a typo.

The box type battery holder is a lipo tray.

I presume this will be different (slimmer?) posts and a carbon lipo retainer?

Default Rudebits brass tray

Might want to just hold fire on the battery tray as there is possibly a rudebits brass tray in pipeline (so I've heard) ??

what have the people running lipo saddle in their car been doing to make the saddles not slide around, i thought my saddle had the lumps underneath so they would locate in the nimh holes but i was mistaken, now im worried my lipos will slide around everywhere

Whn I ran flat bottomed cells I bought Schumacher cell locators (theyare carbon rectangles), dremelled them down the the right size and double sided stickied them to the lipo!

I just double sided taped them to the straps, not like they get taken in and out alot anyhow. They can be taken out if wanted this way

I got Fred Emilsson's lipo cradle kit - it shifts them both about 5mm outwards and means any/many lipos fit.

I also run a couple of .9mm brass sheets under each lipos for the extra weight.
Works quite well. Let's me tune the added weight very well (I can put two or three plates in - currently running 1).

I know my results were a bit naff at Worksop, but the car was going great towards the end of the day, once I got the balance I liked in the car (and stopped breaking it ).

In better hands, it would have done much better that I did ...

Is there any information on when this will be available? How long does it take normally from a toy fair to the big dealers in HK? If anyone has found a picture of the cradle and could post it here that would be awesome.

I haven´t seen the tray, but expect a 3-piece tray in carbon.

Tamiya says:
The Li-Po Tray for TRF511 includes the following parts:
Carbon holder A x 1pc.
Carbon holder B x 2pcs.
3mm Lock nut x 5pcs.
3x8mm Screw x 6pcs.
3x8mm Screw x 4pcs.
3x10mm Scew x 4pcs.
3x0.5mm Spacer x 5pcs.
3x3mm Spacer x 4pcs.

Will probably cost $23-25 on stellamodels, rc-mushroom etc.

Thank you for those pics.
The center piece has 3 holes. Should mean that you can move it rearward in 3 steps.
Still need to remove some material from the center/motor bulk I guess?
It doesn´t seem to move the batterys to clear the center/motor bulkhead or am I missing something?
My LiPo tray does...
And my tray only shares one screw with the undercowl. So when you remove the undercowl the tray is still attached to the chassi.

I think this is one of few Tamiya options I will not buy.
Of course, they will maybe release an updated version of 511 with a modified/different bulkhead. Then this will fit without any modification.

bummer Fredrik, i should have just bought your battery trays, the awesome thing about urs is they also act as a spacer to raise the height of the battery posts, will the tamiya ones and ur ones work in a 501x?
