M3 Tap for Durga

Hi,

After reading through the review & the threads on here, I want to tap the holes before I start building.

Where's the best place to purchase one, i used modelfixings before but they are all out of M3 taps. Can anyone point me in the right direction for an someone that stocks a M3 tap?

I have found this tap on ebay; M3 x 0.5 - is this the right one?

I just used a decent quality counter sunk screw (which had a nice deep hex) on a hudy driver - screwed it all the way in and back out again. after a few I put the driver in a drill and did the rest of the holes super quick.
Before putting the proper screws in I put a little dab of silicone grease in each hole.

M3x0.5 is the standard screw thread pitch, so YES, that should be the right tap.

Apart from engineering supplies, I also know that Much-More UK distribute a couple at £9.99, one is Much-More MK-T02, the other is the TOP Racing PT-081030. You should be able to order them through your favourite Much-More UK dealer.

Any hardware-store should have all sorts of taps in stock.
On my zx-5 i used a long m3 screw (I cut of the head of the screw and just clamped it in) on an electronic screwdriver. Fast and worked like a breeze!

Flippin eck, I bought a Metric Course 12mm second cut tap for repairing a wheel hub on the car after the garage used the impact driver on a wheel bolt and cross threaded it....

The cheapest method is to grind a slight angle on a standard screw and use that as your preformer for the threads. This is a engineering trick. and as worked on all Adams Cars.

I had problems with the stock screws when building mine DB01, until I got a better more solid screwdriver. The rest were easy and I have had no problems since.
