Default KO Servo Horn XX4

After my original servo horn slipping on my xx4 twice in as many weeks, I have decided to invest in some KO alternatives... Can anyone tell me which one to fit.. The longest one is similiar in length to the original part or there is a slightly shorter one..??? Probably makes no differance. Looking at various pictures o xx4's with theze fitted it seems everyone has opted for the slightly shorter one??

Is it definatley the servo horn slipping? Usually the bellcrank goes first.

I did think this, but the fact the horn on the servo had moved off centre told me that it was the servo horn??? Agree?

I'd go with Col on this one. Check the bellcrank end of the linkage, it should be "keyed" into place. I bet it's stripped and moved round a few splines.

If it's that, then replace both parts and also change the screw that secures the arm. You need a countersink screw about 5/8" in length, and a countersink to flat washer. This will spread the load and stop the spline from stripping again.

i also found that if you drill the hole about 5 -10 mm deeper and use a longer screw you dont get these probs at all

Also anyone got an answer to my original question?

i had the same problem fitted the longer of the ko horns and problem solved although i do now use a longer screw and large washer on the other one to stop that having the same problem

With my KO2123, I just use the one that comes in the kit with the bellcrank - I didn't realise there was another one available. You do appear to have a valid point that if the arm is not centred on the servo (rather than the bellcrank) then it's the servo horn at fault. Is the servo metal geared? If so, I'd be tempted to power up the car and hit the wheels so you can see the problem as it occurs (but then I am quite a rough arse...)

The stock ones actually bend quite a lot and so offer some servo protection, better performance than a servo saver but still some protection.

However for best driving performance the KO sets are best. They come as double ended (oe er) of 4 ended (blimey), just trim to size and use whatever length you need to get the right amount of lock.

I use the outer one and netral it at 90 deg across the car, so it doesn't foul the case on full lock. My throw % is are about 65% this way and everything works grand.
