Default 10 minute finals?

With the introduction of the new batt list for this year and the ridiculous amount of capacitiy available, is it time we move on and introduce 10 minute finals for example?

What are peoples thoughts on this?

Not for me, longer races = longer day, or less people racing.

Already doing 7 mins. Finals at the EPR Winter Warmer series
Would possibly do 10 if we had a little more light

Maybe something to think about for the SE GP meeting we're thinking of doing again 11 April 2010.

Brings something else to our racing!

Unfortunately my X12 motors are cooking after 5 mins. Try 10 and they will be fried.

Default 10 mins

One of the things i really love about nitro racing is long finals and bump ups.

Even if you have a terrible qualifying you can still work your way up the finals. Its great as you get far more track time than the usual 15-20 mins you get at electric racing.

long finals are also a real challenge as you have to work out pitting strategy and really keep your concentration.

Frankley nitro ran 30 min finals for all towards the end of the summer series.

I do regional and nats with nitro and the biggest draw for me is the long finals, longest ive done is 30 mins but at some mational events you get 45 mins and some yank events you get an hour!!!!! A true test of man and machine, 5 minute finals are NOT a decent final its just another sprint imo.

I also race 12th pan cars and we already do 8 mins so another 2 will be greatly welcomed imo.

Thing is, 10 min finals mean big events like Bury indoors with over 100 runners must either:
1) Become 2 day affairs
2) Have less entrants
3) Start at 6am and finish at 9pm!

I'm all for more time on track, but in order for that to happen every other final also gets more time, and that means 5 mins extra on the track is an hour extra at the trackside!

Hi all
we have just done Christmas tree bump up finals at PDA, with an 8 min A final.

It worked really well, one person getting 6 finals due to the bump up. others with 2 or more.

with this format you get chance to charge in between, well worth looking at in the future.

So if you have a bad day you could still make the A final.

some thing to think about. it does not add anything to the days times. You do have to be on the ball with crystals.
