Default gear ratio help

hi can any1 help me ive just got my bmax built and racing it for first time on saterday at york indoors been out for a few years so not up to date with things ! what would the best gear ratio to run a 5.5 motor just got it set to kit at min 18 / 87 11.35 would this be anygood

Crag, it depends a lot on the track you'll be racing on, but that's pretty much in the ball park I'd say. Personally, I'd start off lower (17T, or even 16T if it will fit) and check the temperature of the motor after a first practice run. If it's nice and cool, and you feel the need for more top end speed, go up a tooth and check again! That's the safest way to do it.
