having decided on motor/esc & lipo, could i seek some further advice from those in the know..
do i need to source a plastic spur gear as stock on an 8e or can i run a metal spur? also is there any issues fitting a castle creations motor to a Losi motor mount? as i would rather use the Losi conversion kit,i know Marvin has commented that the Losi battery tray is a little high but i can live with that If there is anyone out there who has done this conversion with the hardware mentioned any advice would be gratefuly received |

The MMM motor will fit the Losi mount, but you need to use M3 screws to fit the motor, but the motor mount fits M4 - Some people have drilled and retapped the face plate of the motor to fit M4 screws - but you don't need to.
The Losi conversion kit includes the plastic spur - but you don't need to run one or the other. Go with whichever fits your gearing better. |

I think i read the 1800kv motor has a longer can, should be enough room. the plastic spur will be a 45 tooth from what i remember, what pinion size would suit that best? do i run the hardened c.creations pinions on a plastic spur? is the plastic spur just for quieter running? or other benefits? running on an 1800kv & 5 cell 6500mah lipo

The plastic spur is just so the mesh is quieter - no other benefits (I guess it's lighter too...). You do just run the normal hardened pinions on the plastic spur.
Tell me what the internal ratio of the 8ight is and I'll tell you a pinion to run - I can never find out what the gear ratio is though - so it's best if you just say. The 1800KV buggy motor is 1512 sized - the same as the 2650 - smaller than the 1515 2200KV motor. The other 1800KV motor is a 1518 - so larger than the 2200KV. You'd want the 1512. |
