What brand shock oil do people use?

Just wondering what oil people use? I have been using Schumacher oil, but recently changed to Losi and the shocks feel better.

Heard the associated stuff is good stuff too

I use the ae stuff and it is very good stuff

I usually use Losi or AE for shocks and Ultimate for diffs

i use whatever the LHS have in stock at the time at the weight i want.

I like the Associated stuff but losi is good too if you want halfweights as it's about 2.5wt lighter than Associated on the same indicated weights.

There are 2 key elements for choosing shock oil.
Quality of oil and control of the viscosity.
There was a very good independant report made that showed diferent brands of oil had very different results. The main point was getting the weight labelled on the bottle correct to the actual viscosity.
Some brands for example had 300 weight that was close to 400 and even 400 weight that was close to the 300weight oil.

I cant find the report now but i think it was on rctech.

The best for accurate viscosity ratings was Kyosho. (disclaimer!! I work for Kyosho uk so i am biased)

The key point is that if you are ruinning 300 weight oil and go to 400 weight, You want to be sure thats exactly what you get or you may be confused in getting the set up changes you desire. this is especially compounded if you swap between brands as there are even greater discrepencies to be had.

Interesting as I've found this when using Schumacher and Losi oil, hence why I'm shifting completely over to Losi until I see the chart that you are on about.

Also got some associated 30w and it feels thicker than schumacher 35w...

I've always used AE, never been a fan of schumacher oil for the reason you've found.. it is always noticably thinner than other brands.
However if you solely use schumacher oil im sure you could find the 'correct' weights for comparisons to set up sheets, or you could just use what everyone else does, AE/Losi

I always use Losi oil it seams very consistent to me from bottle to bottle

Always AE (except when I have run Losi cars when I also used Losi oil)

Wonder why Losi are the only people doing coloured oils, always thought that was a good idea!
