Default I-Lap auto-counting system

I hope that some of you have had the chance to read through the letter we handed out on Friday with regards to the lap counting system that the club is looking at introducing.

The key factor which I think will win you all over is the cost. Less than half price compared to the AMB system for you as an individual, and £1000's less for the club!

The feedback I've had talking to other clubs who use it is that the system is accurate and very stable and causes no problems what so ever. So it's over to you all now...

We need to gauge the interest in club members to allow us to make a decision to move forward on this.

Remember that the benefits are that we get far more accurate timing than when using the manual version with the software we run, so you'll really be able to gauge how well you are performing week on week.

Feedback please club members...

In terms of time scale Mike, I would like the club to be in a position to make a decision before the end of our Autumn Championships so that we can order the kit and transponders from the US.

Chris knows of a friend who travels to the US regularly so they might be able to collect to stop us potentially being hit with import tax

We now have 17 members joined, as soon as we have a majority who say yes then the club will sort out the ordering and payments from everyone...

Watch this space.

I can confirm that the system would be used on the off-road track as well.

All you need to make sure is that you have clear windows on your bodyshells so that the opitcal system works.

PS. I'm going to treat myself to an off-road car very soon, but I just can't make mind up between the Associated or the HB Cyclone D4 - or maybe a racing truck instead - choices choices

Please check your inbox as we have now emailed all club members to confirm that we shall be proceeding with the purchase of the I-Lap system and that you'll all need to purchase your own personal transponder. Please make sure you bring your money (details in the email) with you to one of our race meetings and hand over to Russell. Either cash or cheques will be accepted.

Once all current members have paid up, we'll have the system and transponders on order from the US

Great news guys, we have already got 10 members who've paid up for their personal I-Lap transponders. If you have not yet paid, please visit Russell at his model shop in Oakley at the weekend or bring your money along to our next race meeting. As soon as all members have paid then the club will proceed with ordering the system in from the US.

We can't wait to go fully automated

Default Last few club members need to get their money in ASAP so we can order the I-Lap setup

Still a few club members need to bring their money, either to the club on race night or drop it off directly with Russell at his model shop on the weekend.

Only a few to go now and pnce we have everyone's money we'll be able to order and we'll soon be running with the automated system from I-Lap.

Interesting to hear through the grapevine that the BRCA are looking at dropping the AMBrc system as their system of choice - so even the big boys realise they have been paying through the nose for what really is just a little circuit board and some clever chips all wrapped up with wires.

Need to check with Russell but I think we are now close to ordering it now... We will certainly have it before the next championship.

From what I can remember we are waiting payment from these members;

Steve, Corey, Andy O, Ian D, Callum, ( if you have paid let me know as I don’t have an up to date list to hand as I write this, I will check later!)

We have also had 7 other people attend the club which are not members that we haven’t had any money from.

The regular non members;

Maz, Tomas, Ian, also maybe Matt and Keith.

When i spoke to ian recently, he wasn't sure whether he would be investing in an i-laps transponder as it was bromham specific and he cannot gaurantee racing there on a regular basis-hopefully i can confirm after sun
cheers

I thought that might be the case Chris, thanks for letting us know.

We are planning to get a few extra, so no problem if anyone needs one in the future

I know there are several clubs watching this thread to see how we get on with the new I-Lap system. Well the good news is that we are about to order it so we'll let you know how easy it was to setup and I'm sure many more clubs will be placing orders in the months ahead.

Saves the club £1000's over the AMB system - no brainer really
