Driven quite a few 4wds in the last couple of years.

B44 comes out on top for me.. simplicity, reliability, parts availability is top notch!
XX4- one of the easiest 4wd's ive driven, sadly reliability for me was'nt so good.
Cat SX?.. the ideas are definatley there and with some more work it will be a really good car! Got to remember its a new design/concept! The B44/BJ4 has been in development for a LONG while!

Just my 2 cents..

Ben

I have to agree that the 511X is a great all rounder; standard set-up is brilliant, quality is the highest compared to any other kit and it's obviously obtained the results to prove this.

The Durango and Predator are both great in terms of engineering development and sheer design, so these three would be my top three in terms of current crop of 4WD.

Its amazing that a car released in 1996/7 in the XX4 is still considered one of the best cars even now

Yep for me the best car has to be the XX-4, simply because it has passed the test of time, and like others have mentioned is still regarded has having the best suspension geometry around.

Current day I would say the B44, just because it is one of the best all round cars with arguably the best parts back up, and is one of the best value.

I would bet against us looking back at the Durango as a legend in a few years time though....

My 'all time' favorite top 3.

1_PB Mini Mustang (came out of no-where and took the fight to the cat)
2_Pro Cat (it was an evolution, but was brilliant and set the benchmark for everything that followed)
3_Predator (the original was just so unique in a time of similar cars)

Today's top 3.

Predator (it's evolved a long way, testimony to the original design)
B44 (BJ4) (so easy to work on - drive etc, what everyone else said)
Durango (just for the bling factor, and the fact you can now own one !)

1. ASSOCIATED B44
2. YOKOMO BMAX4
3. HOT BODIES D4
4. (Durango-To Be Determined)

Boring I know, since they are all the same basic design, but there is no denying that these top 3 win everything. The new DURANGO may change all of that this year though.

There are a lot of other great 4wd buggies, XX4, XXX4, ZX5FS, CATSX, X11, 511X, etc...and in the right hands, all will work great. But the B44, BMAX4, D4 aren't over engineered and are simple for expert and average racers to work on them and set them up.

My top 3 also work great in pretty much any condition (rough, smooth, dirt, turf, etc) I think the others have weaknesses depending on the type of track or type of surface IMO.

Cool my top 3.

you cant denie all of these cars are well thought through, some turn out better than others but thats the way it goes.

from the cars i've had and currently have, heres my 3.

in @ no:1 pred x11. they took a while to get this far but they got there, some of the best enginuity.

@ 2 AE B44. one of the best all-round packages out there and certainley a great stock of spares supporting it. probabley the best money for value kit.

@ 3 losi xx-4. this has really been put through it all, it just shows how much thinking was put in to it. the down fall for me was its reliability.
