Hi All,
I was just looking for some advice please, I am looking for a cheap 1/10 electric buggy that I can use to race in the winter at my local club which does indoor racing and I just wandered if anyone had come across or tried the Ansmann Mud Rat and what are they like. http://www.m-k-racing.com/product_in...d=7332&<osCsid> They seem amazingly cheap at £95 ready to run so honest opinions please as I don't want to throw loads of money into electric it is just for me to learn and practice with over the winter until I am back out on the track with my Losi nitro buggy. Thanks or as an alternative am I best putting the same money into a second hand Associated B4 through Fleabay etc? I already have a Spektrum DX3 which I use with my nitro buggy so i assume I can use this with the second model memory and spare receiver with the electric buggy? I would probably use this if possible to replce the unit which comes with the Ansmann etc Thanks please let me know any advice greatly received Regards Simon ![]() |

i run the madrat and it is a great car there is 2 flaws with it one is the plastic shocks the tops tend to pop off but you can glue them on the other is the t peice but again the revised part is only about £4 and then it is a great car to learn with
![]() do you mind me asking what track you want to go to?

The madrat, above considered, is good for the money. A used B4 may be a good option?

Which tracks are you running your b4 and madrat at? Is it an indoor or outdoor venue? I'm interested to see which tracks suited the madrat more than the B4.

the madrat has a losi like rear end making it produce allot of rear end grip sometimes meaning it pushes like a barge it can be made to go silly fast though its got potential

Hiya All,
Cheers for the advice, I honestly can't decide what to do for the best now between a new Mud Rat or used B4?! Can you upgrade the shocks on the Mud Rat to alloy versions etc? Venue wise I have never been there before but am interested in going along to Jarrow and Oxclose RC Racing club which is part of BRCA and in Newcastle upon Tyne where I live. I have seen a video on Youtube of the venue in action and it appears to be a school with a hard floor, would this influence which of the 2 buggies would be best as there is no mud involved? Thanks again for any advice Also tyre wise what would be good for a hard indoor surface and does anyone race with this club, is it good and are the guys friendly as I am still a beginner and just learning. Cheers Battle-axe what sort of price are the fastracx upgrades and can you point me to a link for them please if possible, do you think the Mud Rat would be okay on a hard indoor type surface?
Also can anyone advise what are the servos like on the Mud Rat would they stand up to a night of racing or would they best be upgraded, if so please can anyone advise so reasonable quality and proce ones to put in? Also battery wise as I have never ran electric what is my best reasonable option? Cheers Simon |

the ESC in the RTR does not have LiPo cutoff so if you run lipo then you need to be carefull that you dont run them too low i run NiMh in my car still and you can pick up some cells at a good price but in the end lipo is the way to go it depends what you are after lipo is more expensive but less work NiMh is cheep but requires looking after

Simon,
I don't know the venue, but from looking on youtube as you have done, it's predominantly a polished wood floor, a 2wd will certainly test your abillity to drive or will be a steep learning curve! Have you considered a 4wd buggy? Just something for you to consider. P.S. It's a Madrat, not Mudrat ![]() |

Cheers for the advice Stampede vxlboy, it possibly sounds like if I need to spend a fair bit on the Madrat to bring it up to spec, maybe i should look at a used B4 instead do you think?
Also cheers re the Lipo info maybe NiMh would be my best option Cheers Simon ![]() |
