Brushless equivalent for Tamiya Sports Tuned

Im looking for opinions on what people think might be a close comparison for the Tamiya Sports Tuned motor to be used in off road? Im told the 21.5 is a good comparison and wanted to ask for opinions on this.
Im well aware that the Hobbywing 3000kv is used in the mini's but Im told the gearing is the restriction but the 3000kv can be geared up to go much quicker. I want to trial the 1900kv Hobbywing motor and thought maybe someone here has attempted the same project.
As for 21.5 motors, what is a good example to buy and what should i stay away from ???
