Default 501x WE or 511

501x WE or 511, both new, race only indoor carpet.
What would be better choice?

I can't comment on either has don't own them, but I would have imagined the 511 would be better as it is newer.

Also, might be worth dopping the guy in this thread a pm. I know it says a swap, but he might be interested in money if you ask.

I've never had a 501 but do have a 511. Also don't race on carpet. Will say however that on dirt the 511 overrotates in standard setup (oversteers corner exit). This may make it perfect for carpet!

I'd go with the 511 .

I don't own one and Haven't tested it either .
I have seen it close up . & thought it was a good evolution over the 501 . Tamiya Seems to Fixed all the Flaws & imperfections on the 501 and came up with the 511 .

Don't get me wrong ; the 501 Handles Like a dream . But the 511 seems to be easier to work on .

Again I haven't had the opportunity to drive the 511 . so can really say if it's better or not . The guy that owns it said the 511 was better ( he has used both )

Don't have a WE and have never driven one but I understand they're a good change from the 501X... I think the 511 is an even better evolution.

The key difference I find between the 501X and the 511 is the simpler build/maintenance. I think you can dial the 501X and 511 in just about the same.

On this basis, if the cost was similer I'd go for the 511. If the WE is much less expensive (say 20%) then that's probably a good option.

I have a 501x we but never tryed a 511, people i have spoken to who got both or have tryed both cars...says that the cars are identical but the 511 is SO MUCH EASIER to maintaine

What bodies have you people tried besides the stock body and undertray.
Thinking about trying a different body, the stock bodies are 40 dollars,
I can get 2 Jconcepts B44 bodies for that. And the 501x undertray costs more
than the body at some stores.

Has anyone tried Losi XXX-4 bodies on a 501/511?

They are both excellent cars, the 511 has more corner speed and is a lot easier to work on,the 501 we is a bit less 'edgy' and bit more safer and maybe a bit easier to drive but the 511 is the faster car if you run them back to back, the choice is yours but I would say if you are quite experienced go for the 511, if you are a beginner go for the 'safer' 501x we, hope this helps.
