Default B4FT Wheelbase

Hi guys

Im a self confessed buggy noob. I only get to race mine at Worksop sadly. Anyway, as such, im a novice at setting them up. I have finished tidying it up from last years series and have altered the wheelbase to short at both the front and the rear.

Is this setting ok at the front ? The red arrow points to the spacer position making the wheelbase as short as is possible.

I have also fitted 30 degree castor blocks.

Experienced opinions appreciated

That spacer is only really for when you want to run inline axles so that the wheelbase doesn't change.

If I remember correctly it will do strange things to your steering geometry.

What are you trying to achieve by shortening the wheelbase by that much? Maybe another adjustment would help more.

On the other hand just try running it like that and see how it goes

If you are new to setting up B4's this might be usefull:

Cheers bud - appreciated. To be honest, i was just trying to get as much steering as is possible. Although my car felt reasonable last year, im just not used to such an amount of understeer. Watching other peoples cars it was apparent that most of them were under-steering, its just about managing it.
I have also just fitted the Trishbits brass blocks that add weight to the front end. Maybe i should just put the spacer back behind the Castor block as it was and try it ?

If it screws up the steering geo then id rather alter it now than do it in a rush at Worksop.

Thx again

Are you looking for more highspeed steering or more midcorner?

The 30° blocks will be good for the high-speed stuff but will give you less in the twisty and coming out of corners...

If you want a more lively front end the inline axles aren't bad but not everyone's cup of tea. Playing around with the height of the steering spindles can make the car feel better too.

you could try running the silver roll bar on the back. If you don't like it just remove one of the links to the wishbone and leave it on the car.

You could also try playing around with the anti-squat to make the car rotate around corners more.

Have fun

As sparrow said - that spacer is NOT a wheelbase adjuster, it is to compensate for running the inline blocks. It will mess up the geometry.
