Default Pred white wheels

Well i have just been trying to take some tyres off of a pair of wheels as i was going to use the tyres for my B4, anyway i was using nail varnish remover, as like acetone it dissolves glue. Anyway i have just had a check on them and it looks like it it is making the wheels fall apart in the sense that i can take out a huge gougue with my finger nail and if i rub quite har on the surface. Is this normal for Pred wheels as this has never happened for any other wheel i have tried taking the glue off. Just means that i will be neading to buy Pred wheels a lot more often compared to B4 wheels.

for some reason the old pred wheels do seem to be made of a poor material ,ive seen a few crack from a little impact that any other wheel would be fine from, the new x11 ones are alot better from what ive seen.

the old x11 white wheels were fragile and cracked easily, most probably they had small cracks which the nail varnish remover has just made bigger.. as said... get some orange ones! much more substantial!

I don't think it's that the plastic is weak, it's because it's brittle that they break on hard impact. The reason why they do this in your Acetone is because of the material they are made out of reacts with it, if you left them long enough they wud dissolve

The just "Feel" better than the X10 ones, they feel like they have more tolerence plus they just look ace.

The bulk pack of wheels is really good value: http://www.teamxtreme.co.uk/store/in...roducts_id=211

You could try to boil the wheels. Some materials seem to hold up better when boiled. I haven't tried it myself on Predator wheels but on some other cars plastic parts it worked very well.

Sorry to dig up an old thread guys but I couldn't find a confirmed answer after searching.

Which Pred wheels can be treated with acetone?

- read on Oople's review that the orange ones can't... but some answers on this thread suggest they can?
- read on another thread that only the latest "artic white" wheels can, is this true?

What have you guys been doing to get the tires of the wheels or are there just a whole bunch of wheels with used tires in the garbage somewhere?

Thanks!

The latest white wheels are no problem in acetone.

Where in the review does it say the orange ones can't go in acetone?

I cut the tires of the rims but leave enough rubber on to pull on.
and then I boile them for 20 minutes.
as they com out of the water you pull with a pliers and the tires comme off.

The newer white wheels and the orange wheels (marked X11) are fine in acetone.

Team Xtreme now have a new batch of the Orange wheels with the X11 stamp. And for those of you that prefer white there is a new batch of those too which are also stamped with X11. Both colours are in the same material as the old orange ones, which is much stiffer but don't suffer from cracking like the old X10 wheels.

Just re-read the reviews and seems I made a mistake... it was in the X10 review that mentioned the old white wheels were not compatible with acetone. Oops... sorry about that.

So the orange wheels should do fine in acetone?
