It doesn't get any better........
Sitting here in my office with no MD to hassle me, I'm left reflecting on last nights race meeting, and it struck me how well we're doing - and not just in the face of the current economic climate. Everyone has had to tighten their belts, but still last night we had a healthy 37 drivers.
It's also hugely encouraging to see a steady stream of new young drivers coming to see what we do and keen to start racing. One new lad with a XX4 last night, another 1 getting a Durga, with another Durga hopefully soon to pass into the hands of a lad wishing to make a start.
After 20+ years of being at FORCC, I think it's terrific that the formula we have works so well. Low cost, low maintenance racing, on tracks that Crewie excels himself weekly by coming up with very raceable tracks in what is, to be fair, not a massive area to play with. There's never any shortage of banter, and there's always someone to lend advice or setup help to the newcomers. It's as much a social evening out as it is a race meeting!
All we need is Mr Tractor Boy to get back out on track - if it means me taking over getting the races gridded up then I'll gladly do that.
Shortly we'll have our previously well supported Winter Series starting again, and I can't wait to be honest! There's just something about the buzz on a Sunday with the finals thrown in as well.
A big pat on the back for us all I think. We should be proud of what we have and what we've achieved. A club is nothing without its membership, and we have a truly great bunch of racers.
Long may it continue...........
