I have borrowed a SP LPF off a mate for my B44 and it's cogging ever so slighlty off the bottom end of the power.
I have a brand new losi 13.5 (I'm not a girl, it's for indoors at Faversham!) and a new sensor lead. All the EPA are set ok to 100. One thing I have noticed is that there is no capacitor on the + / - ? Will this be having an effect? I want to give the car a run on Wednesday. What does the capacitor do? Can I use any other type, ie Novak? |

you certainly need to be running a capacitor and will more then likely solve the problem you have. all speedos are supplied with one

Isn't it a massive thing on those SP's, looks like a loads of caps in a line?

I use a Novak capacitor on my SP ESC and it works fine

there are a few different types available for them, they do the one you mention Dan & also one the same as a Novak one. think there will be a smaller one out soon similar to LRP/Nosram

Cheers chaps! So I'll have a look for a capacitor at the LHS
So does this store energy in it so it gives a smooth power transition? |

Running without a cap could also make your speedo go bang... |

Cheers Sparrow, that explains it, I had better get one fitted as I don't think I'll be in the good books blowing up a mates speedo!
Just had a look on Schumacher website, £17! I'll have to see if he can find it!! |

Mark, I may have some SP capacitors spare. I have the GT2.0 ESC, and haven't used caps, so should still be lying around somewhere...

That will do nicely.
It isn't really that important which manufacturer they're from as long as you have on fitted. The SP ones aren't bad as the smaller capacitors tend to react to voltage drops quicker. The bigger ones can sustain voltage a little longer but the spikes aren't that big so any will do. Keep the leads nice and short and make sure the legs and all is covered in heatshrink because caps go bang large stylee if you short them ![]() |

Can you short a capacitor? I didn't know that..I thought they have no polarity. I have bought a SP LPF 2.0, I will try it next weekend.

They have a polarity and if they get shorted they pop like firecrackers. The battery gets shorted in the process too so something has to give. Usually the solder melts...
