Hi Guys,
The LRP X12 motors haven't been out that long in our country and i just been looking on the for sale forum and noticed there are quite a few for sale. Just wondered if these motors are any good and if people are selling them because they're naff ?

I was thinking the same tbh, some said to me that the X11`s are better because the X12`s plastic melts (end plate where sensor wire is) i`m not sure how true or its correct but i agree, there`s alot popping up for sale

I got mine for sale but I got it with a car and I run for Tekin, looks like a real sweet motor though

The end bell on the X11 was plastic too (although it could be replaced with a Nosram alloy plate if you wanted to bling it up). Got to say my X12 hasn't given me any trouble at all in the 4 months I've had it, but er, then again I've never got round to actually opening the box and putting it in a car yet

No problems with both of mine other than getting a bit hot, but thats to be expected with the spec improvements. Check the outputs compared to the X11 or other motors
![]() All good plus LRP have just released a Alu case and end bell to reduce temps |

I always found the LRP brushless motors to run hotter than most. I now stick with the motors that have fans in then such as Orion, Peak and Speed Passion. Have to say that even though the LRP motors got hot they were quick

ive been running these motors since day one and they are amazing and 100 percent reliable.
you just have to accept that they do get very hot, but they pay off is that you get a motor with so much more punch and low end grunt than anything else out there. you also gear then on a much higher ratio. i think people are selling em because they buy them and realize they have bought the wrong wind........ie they should have bought a slower one because they are on average 1 to 2 winds faster than any comparative company. eg your lrp 7.5 is as fast as an orion 6.5 i know first hand that hupo honigl only uses 7.5t in 4wd and 8.5t in 2wd as a general rule!!!!!! these motors are fantastic!!!

I've been running an X11 7.5 in my Losi XXCR without issues and a Losi 7.5 in my Cat SX which gets very hot. However with winter I'd imagine it'll run a fair bit cooler.
Planning on changing to Speed Passion in the Cat SX and probably will get a 7.5 Speed Passion for the XXCR for next year's outdoor season. The XXCR isn't going to run in winter. I was going to get an X12, but the number for sale has also lead me to re-think. The other motor I'm looking at is Tekin to match the Tekin RS Pro ESCs I'm running. |
