What Motor ? New to Regionals

Just after people opinions !

I`m looking at racing in the South East Regionals this year for the 1st time.

I`ve got a Mr4Bx and was wondering what type of modified motor would be best to start with.

I do want to be able to compete as must as my driving will allow me !

One of my mates has just got a Checkpoint 10 x 2 is that a good starting point ?

i run a checkpoint 10x2 and it is a great motor. very fast, plenty of grunt and doesn't need too much maintenance.
Obviously it depends on your ability as to what you can handle. If you are going to be at an unfamiliar track and haven't been driving long then it may be better to run a 19t spec motor in the first few races and see how you get on. If you are in control and feel you need more speed then maybe move up to something like a 12x2.
The 19t may feel slow but if you compare lap times i guarantee you will be virtually as quick with the 19t, but more importantly you will probably have less mistakes meaning less marshall time.

I`ve been racing for about 3 years, but only moved on to Off Road in January.

I race each week on a indoors on a slippery surface and am not doing too bad and have worked my way up the heats.

Just gonna be new to Grass.

In that case maybe start out with a 12x2 and see how you go. If the grass wears badly then you will probably need nice fresh yellows, as once the tip wears off they struggle a bit on dusty worn grass. Not quite as bad in 4wd though.

If you're going to crash as spectacularly as you did Wednesday night Brett I'd leave the 27T in........

You'll be fine with a 12x2 in. Yes it's that much faster, but there is more room outside to utilise the power. Might be a little scary for a few laps but you'll soon get the hang of it. You've done pretty well indoors thus far!

I think it was a very gracefull landing seeing as the height it got

Just because they no longer run a shop, does'nt mean Ballistic are No more, and stupid comments like that don't help anyone, all it does is cause confusion.

Ballistic tyres are one of 2 control tyres for this seasons National series, couldn't have been nomiated if they were no more! FACT

I run Snee blues, but schumi blues are pretty good if you cant get the Snee's.
