Default 501x/511x slipper spring.

I have noticed that most people seem to be using a black, sturdier looking spring on the layshaft assembly. I think I read somewhere that this was from an Associated B4, but just to be on the safe side could somebody please verify this for me and/or point me in the right direction as to where to purchase one from?

Thank you.

Julius.

Sorry, I should say the 511 comes with its own BK2 diff spring copy - I guess they copied it exactly as that's what the Team were using on the older car (501X)

Funnily enough i just recieved a couple of these, one looks like the old style black B2K diff spring which most people were using, the other is the same diameter bore but shorter, less turns and silver. Same part number but different style packets - the silver one looks newer.

Havent got round to putting them on yet to see if theres a difference but its on my list of things to do sometime soon

501X had a silver spring. It was to soft.
511 and the db01 double slipper clutch set (#54061) comes with the "new" black spring.

Thank you for all your replies. I have to say, I have noticed that the 501x standard spring seems far too soft.

Does anybody know where to source the 511x slipper spring? As the double slipper set looks to be about £30 (I'm not so keen on hearing that there are differences in the BK2 diff spring either.) I'm not in any particular rush, so foreign suppliers would suffice.

I've managed to find the replacement 501x spring for about £2 which seems more reasonable; but not the 511x counterpart.

Julius.

Hi,
I noticed the same thing with my 501x wc....
The spring must be compressed totaly for it not to slip.

i thought the b44 spring would be a good replacement,...
but that one is way too big.

I found the new spring in hong kong and put it on the car.
It is so much more direct!
here is the link;

good luck!

Ok.
I was talking about the different springs that Julius asked about.

Rcmodel has a lot of "hard to find" spare parts.

Ordered. Along with several other items I couldn't resist.

Thanks again for the help.
