What's the history of Nosram and LRP. Having a slogan "Blue is better" is surely a slant at Nosram, but if they are the same product, just a different paint job, isn't that self depricating?

Was Nosram set up for a different continental arm of the same business?

Good contract gone bad?

Or something else?

Blue is Better was a dig at Novak (orange), not Nosram.

After years of claiming "blue was better" and even enduring comeback slogans from Novak such as "Blue may be better, but Orange is still best" they decided sevral years back to increase their market share, hence Nosram was born (re-born in fact).

They (LRP) purchased the rights to the Nosram name from the founder/owner (Nick Marson - his suranme in reverse is Nosram - they made speedos here in the UK during the 80's and 90's) and gave a breath of fresh life back into the long dead UK brand which was known as Nosram. The LRP view is that even IF their product is best, some people will still want choice, so they offer choice, if you dont like LRP or BLue, then buy Red and Nosram.

Since this move LRP's market share in retail sales of electronic products has grown by some margin, so it shows the move was a good one, from their part at least

But by all intents and purposes, LRP and Nosram are the same thing from the same place, just in two different colours with two seperate names to sell them under.

Also with two seperate brands going into every country it keeps the two distributors on their toe's to make sure their pricing, support and stock of their respective version is as well managed as they can. We now have SMD (LRP) and Schumacher (Nosram) looking after the two variants here and both companies are top notch in all three of the areas I mention and will do a bteer job of "looking" after the product than what went before them. The relief to hear Schuey got it and the "distributor who expected to get it" had lost out was great, we can now consider re-stocking Nosram here at DMS after many months of abscence from our shelves...........

I just rang schuamcher and they said they have taken it on but still havent got a service procedure in place nor have they got stock so could be a few weeks before everything is up and running 100% but sounds hopeful the guy i spoke to was really friendly should make a good combo.

Like most of us, the total tonnage of what Darren doesn't know would be enough to stop a stampeding herd of buffalo in its tracks - but that would exclude most things RC!

One point to add - a non-LRP brand was also needed so that drivers with sponsorship deals who might clash with taking LRP could be supported. So, if you were driving Losi in the US, it wouldn't be easy to take sponsorship from LRP that is distributed by Associated. Having the Nosram brand, not linked to any car manufacturers, enabled LRP to gain more drivers.

Good to see Nick's brand will continue in the UK - he was one of the good guys of RC, and his original speedos were National winners. I hope he'd be pleased.

Mark reinard used it to good effect at the recent 1/10th touring car euro's.
"Tested by a number of the Speedpassion team drivers, the new motor features a shorter can that sees the cables from the speed controller connected to the motor using 3 plugs that are plugged directly into the rear of the motor. This is said to be more efficient as it connects directly to the internal wires and not through a circuit that brings the power to the conventional tabs on one side of the motor. Drivers who have used the new motor say that it gives a much smoother power delivery than the current motor. Expect it to be released at the end of August."
