Default Best way to get into drift?

Hey guys,

I'm interested in getting into drift racing, my question is should I go electric brushless lipo or nitro? I have seen the kyosho electric range that looks good and the nitro hpi rs4 but I'm not sure whether I should go nitro or electric? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

electric is probably best for drifting, quicker power delivery

shaft drive is good too

yup i agree. the hpi sprit2 drift is a good one. thats what i have it works great but i got yok tires and rims thinks they work better then stock that come with. the tt0-1 is what alot of people say to start with check out groovy drift its a good site. or if money no object go with yokamo they are comp drift cars but are kits and cost about 200 with no radio esc motor. hope it helps

i used an old electric shumacher sst when i started out but electric is definatly better to start with and its torque wrather than rpm you want for drifting i'd strat with something cheap as you will most likely crash alot.but electric definatly

The Ta05 seems to be a very popular car for drifting due to teh weight distribution with the motor being in the middle.

The best drifter is the ta05 conversion by tech racing made soley to drift.

HI Guys,

Ive just started drifting at basically its the most fun and most skilled pieces of driving ive ever done.

My car is a standard TT01 except for a alloy propshaft because i run a tamiya 11t modified brushed motor in it.
The best drift tires are the premounted hpi t-drift tyres on silver multi-spoke rims and that's all you really need. You may want to lock your rear diff if you want instant rear end grip loss.

Cheers Guys

Hey

You must lock out your rear diff - you can use blue tack but I would personally use hot melt glue, unless you can lay your hands on a spool for the rear?

Hpi T - Drifts are really good but so are the Yokomo single ring drift tyres both are fully D1RC legal.

Brushed ideally want to be 19t for eg the checkpoint money motor they are about 30.00- 35.00 novak xrs esc - 40.00 this combo is banging and will not miss a beat once.

brushless is a whole different game - run 10.5 but must be brca approved or 13turns and above for anything

see www.drccentral.com/forums - then go to the D1RC national champ section for the rules , thats if you plan to do a D1RC event if not sod it put what ever you want in LOL

have fun

Hi there

I ran a tamiya tt01 car (my first touring car i started with) with a 11t brushed motor and some drift tyres.
Would be best to lock the rear diff with bluetack

You havent got to spend alot on a drifter, just by a really cheap car, lock the diff, buying some drift tyres and get drifting

Takes a while to get use to it as its a skill but its bloody fun!!!!!!
