Default Wanted - someone to paint my TRF 501x

Iv just got a nice 501x and i need some reccommendations for someone to spray er up lol.

Ideally someone in the northwest area, Im in Manchester and id prefer to drop off and collect whenever its ready kind of thing. Mileage shouldnt be a problem. I may be able to post, however as i work all over the U.K, i may not be able to have it delivered unless i use a friend etc.

Any reccommendations???

Design wise - a blank canvas lol - i'll leave it up to the sprayers imagination, all i ask is it uses nice bright colours - im not that bothered on style lol. - I do really like the box art option, or even the likes if jimis fantastic creation... anything goes!!

Any reccomendations lol.

Thanks

Col.

Just out of curiosity, You word that as in Micks copied your work. As your a sprayer yourself, you will be aware - its the owner of the new shell that asks what he wants, Usually when a shells is good, people will ask - I want that etc.

I suppose you could say that i have copied the orignal box art scheme for my 501x... Not Mick.

Heres the results... They speak for themselves. Im very happy with the shell, its not finished as yet, as its going to have some lacquer apllied to aid rubbing etc.

Nice looking shell for the 501x. Really like the underplate too - will look great in mid-air!

I don't think anyone has had their intellectual property ripped off here....a lot of shells look similar and flames are a popular design. Also, shell shapes are all quite similar too which further limits the options that will work and look good I suppose.

But then again what do I know...I've never painted a shell in my life!

I honestly don't think Tel meant any bad by it, it is rather a compliment to Tel that someone used one of his designs for a 'basis' for a shell. We all do it at some point or another.

Some customers just know what colours they want, I have had others who have given me a pencil sketch and told me, 'like that, make it look good' and others have said.... 'ere, I have seen this shell, its ace, but in my colours, yesterday'.

So, like I say, I think Tel meant no harm, and I am off putting Copyright logo's on ALL my shells, roflol.

Yay, I'm back surfin again after I was waiting to get t' int'net up and running!

No deffo didn't mean that. It is a huge compliment when people start usin your designs that you thought up for people especially when they use the same colours etc.

I don't mind at all realy, after all you cant stop people from copying designs. It wouldn't be right anyway.
we all do it at some time, people ask me to do UFO/ROLY/FRANKS shells all the time, and as DCM says they just want colours changing etc.

I like to think its an honour that people think I'm capable of coying UFO shells, after all he is a bit of a genious when it comes to painting shells. thinking up designs is the hardest part of painting shells, so sometimes you have to look for inspiration.

Couldn't agree more Tel.

I'm a sound engineer by trade, although I teach it now, and I've lost count of how many times I've have my ideas borrowed!

Like you say, it is an honour.

simple but effective!
The Black on the purple one?! is ace, its a paint that tamiya do that is a clear spray with 'holographic' glitter in it, spray it on then back in your choice of colour. it gives an excelent effect with the darker colours though. bit expensive (£6.50 a can) but well worth it.

they should be on my site soon and you can see the glitter better.

it just shows how buggies are taking off again, i used to have 15-20 buggy shells on my site before christmas, now i've go 70!
